5033, Where does the dash tweeters wires go to??
Posted by DvSEclipse, Jan-11-03 05:57 PM
I've done a search, and still can't find what I was looking for. I was wondering where the wires from the tweeters in the dash lead down too, does it connect somewhere from the HU? or does it go to the speakers in the door? Oh yeah, I've got the cheap ebay lexon tweeters too.

I've never actually thought about where the tweeter wires go in our cars. :7

If you are just replacing your tweeters, use the stock wires. They are sufficient, but you must use the capacitor that was supplied with the tweeters. I would not rely on the oem crossovers, since they might not be sufficient for the aftermarket tweeters.

If you have an aftermarket amplifier for your front stage, then run new wires directly to the amplifier. Again, be sure to use the supplied crossover, as you don't want to blow the tweeters.

Tweeters do not draw a lot of current, so they can be hooked up directly to the front speaker wires off of the headunit. They will not mess with the internal amplifier in the h/u because they are "too little" of a speaker.

Good luck to you and see ya in the lanes!

For me, the tweeters are patched into the front speaker outputs on the headunit.

I got the Lexan ones also, they have an internal crossover that seems to work fine. The tweeters are rated at 300 watts...I dont believe youll be blowing them anytime soon. Ive really cranked them to levals past ear piercing and havnt had a prob. try em out and see if you think you need an additional crossover.
