huh? I don't know if you are wordin that right. If you wire (2) 4 ohm speakers together than it can be a 2 ohm load or an 8 ohm load depending on how you wire it. The amp has to be able to run at a 2 ohm load to do that and not melt.

my bad... ive been running the system like this for some time, just wondered if it was doing any harm.. what i mean is that i have my two 4ohm subs connected in parallel(sp) to the amp that is bridged at 2ohms.

No harm at all. When you run two equally-ohm-rated subs in parallel, the end result is an ohm load of half the rating, or in this case, 2 Ohms. If your amp is running 2 Ohms bridged, then you're fine.

Except that most amps are not rated to run at 2 ohms bridged. Most like RF amps only run at 4 ohms bridged, amd risk melting if run lower...

I was thinking exactly the same thing, but my reply was based on him being correct about it running stable at 2 Ohms bridged.

iamnotwhoiam, you should really double-check and make sure your amp both can and is running at 2 Ohms bridged... like Eclipse804 said, most run bridged at 4 Ohms. If your amp bridges at 4 Ohms, and you're hooking a 2 Ohm load to it, that is asking for trouble. If you're right about it bridging at 2 Ohms, then you're fine.

cool thanks guys... yes the amp is currently running at 2ohms as it is rated. it is the 729S amp from kenwood

my guess would have been if it was not set up correctly some few months ago i would know by now.. :-)

As far as my knowledge of kenwood goes, it its a mono(1 chanel) amp you're fine, if not, you aren't
