4966, Just bought Lexon tweeters off ebay for $9 Posted by scirio, Jan-02-03 11:38 AM
I heard that some of you guys think these are great. I ordered some and they got to me in like 3 days. Hella fast. Anyway, they really do fit nice and flush in the stock holes up in the dash but I have a big question... HOW DO I INSTALL THEM, I have already removed the old ones. So total there are 4 wires coming out of each side, that was leading to 2 harnesses, a black one and a small white one, which ones do I connect to the contact on the Lexar tweeter,Dont I need a crossover or something, I thought they couldnt handle a pure signal... Well guys what do I do, there is no built in resistor, just the contact going straight to and through the tweet. HOW DO I DO IT???????????????????????????????? TIA

probably not the right way to do it, but I just tore the cables from the stock tweeter and plugged them directly into the new tweets. No resistor (or whatever) no problem. Yes I got the same cheapos you did. You'll notice right away that they produce a lot more high end than the stockers. Whether this is going to be something you like or not is hard to tell. Since I have subs in my car, I was able to just take a little treble away from the fronts and it sounds better now, more even. Without subs, the new tweets might be a bit overpowering

Hey, I got them also. I cut the wire before it went to the black connector that goes to the stock tweeters (which were blown in my car). i then bought a pack of assorted quick connect ends from radio shack. I striped the stock wires and crimped a connector on each one. then i snapped them on the two silver male ends on the new lexon tweeters and that was it.
They DO produce a lot of treble which i didnt like at first, it was actualy ear piercing at times. I had to re tune my sub and speakers and fade my head unit towards the rear a little. But now I love the system and really like the tweeters. Prob the best 10$ i ever put into the car.
>>I do not remember having any white connector on my stockers. My stock ones i have right here and they still have the oriinal black connector on it, the stock black connector has two black wires comin out of it, I used these two wires on each side . I never used no touched any white connector.

Thanks guys, i thought no one cared. It's weird, coming out of the hole are TWO small harnesses, a big black one for the tweeter and and a small white one, I'm guessing that one is for power mirrors which I don't have. Oh well thanks guys, BUt what if I were to hook up a crossover, would it get so ear piercingly loud still???

The easiest thing I found to do that allows you to "personalize" your sound system is to tune it with the head unit. Those tweeters produce a lot more highs than the old ones so you can afford to pan the balance towards the rear a little. Also, turn down your treble from the head unit and turn up the mid or low a little and you should be able to balance your sound to the way you like it.
>>I drive around sometimes withou the sub on and I am not bothered by the tweeters simply because I turn down the treble a little, you dont need a sub to counteract them, it just helps a little.

Maybe you have a grounding issue? My cell phones (one was AT&T the other was Verizon) have never had any interference with them at all. What kind of problems exactly are you having?
