ok, i have an aftermarket alarm with aftermarket keyless entry. its been working fine, no problems. my alarm puts out a negative pulse for the keyless entry. when my car turns on, the doors automaticaly lock and unlock when i turn it off, so today curiosity got the best of me and i wondered if i could press the disarm/unlock button while the car was running and unlock the doors. well nothing happened so i thought ok, it dosent work, no biggie. i get out and try to arm it and my alarm isnt working. well, turns out i blew a fuse (constant +)so i just pop in a new one and im all good...i though. when i hit arm/lock it arms and locks, but when i hit disarm/unlock i blow a fuse every time. i took out the relay for the unlock and could sucessfully disarm my alarm w/o blowing a fuse. well i thought maybe i fried the relay (didnt know if it was possible) so i tried a relay i had sittin around to see, and that blew a fuse when i tried to disarm/unlock it. WTF is wrong?? when i hit the unlock, it will unlock the door, but the alarm wil chirp once (instead of twice) and blow the fuse. everything worked fine untill my dumb ass hit that button so im searching for info as to what i eff'd up here. points to whoever helps out!

What kind of alarm is it, who put it in, details man...details.

im guessing that the "test" you performed had nothing to do w/ the problems you are experienceing now. i guess its possible somehow, but more than likly your alarm brain would be the problem, and you might as well get a new one.

i think theres just a short in the unlock wire, between the brain and the 30 or 87 terminal on the relay (depending on how you have it wired). check there first. the reason your alarm only chirps once is because it only has time to do so before the fuse blows. try unplugging the lock/unlock harness completely from the alarm brain and see if it will atl least chirp, etc. without blowing a fuse. if so my guess is right.

It is possible that the positive feed for the relay or lock motor is shorted to ground. This would cause it to blow the fuse every thing it completes the circuit to send 12+ to the motor to unlock the door.

Take out your Digital Multimeter (Radioshack, $20) and check if you have continuity to ground on the 12+ feed to the motor. if you do, start tracking down then short and either repair it or bypass it.
