I was really curious as to whether or not the little grills on my dash up by the windshield had tweeters inside because through the grill I can kind of see a yellowish cone and it looks like a 2 1/2 in tweeter and I though RS's didn't have any plus if there were they definatly werent on cuz I hear nothing from them. Well I popped em open and there were mitsubishi tweeters in there and the grill was actually attached so then I hooked em up to another stereo and I was right, NOTHING, no sound at ALL. are they blown, I have pic's of them, I don't recalll them ever working. what can I replace them with or are they just not hooked up? I dont remember pluging those wires into the harness on my JVC deck.

Also Ive had some Infinty Kappa 1613's in a box (6x9's) that were $150 but I only had 5 1/2 pods so today I got the oem 6x9 pods but the magnet is totally too big. Bumer so what do I do and what fits without spending another arm/leg. And are 600 (supposED) watts on a profile California Baja series amp enough to lift a 12". Thanks if anyone can help -Will P.S. I dont know how to take off my dash nor will I even try.

Yes, you had tweeters in your dash, seeing as how they are 8 years old they are probably shot. Take them out, gently pry the grille away from the tweeter itself (you can do it, jut be gentle). Then cute the tweeter cone out of the housing. Buy some quality 1" tweeters and mount in there. Replace the grille, and put them back. (wire them, of course)

Baja amps? Bleh....never have liked them. It may push a twelve, but won't be very clear.

And what do you mean you bought 6X9's and only had space for 5.25's? Your rear speakers should be 1 of 2 options. Factory 6X9's (which you don't have) and a 6X9 shaped housing with a 6.5" hole cut in it for 6.5's. All you have to do is use a dremel tool and cut that out to fit the 6X9. Just make sure you mark where your holes are and don't cut away too much material or you'll ruin them.

have to add though that i kinda like the calafornia series amps. it wont produce its rated power (without going into severe clipping), but its a good budget amp, better than pyramid, optimus, jensen, etc. the only reason i say this is because my friend has one (might be the same model..white with like an alligator on it? or somthing?) and its held up really well the past couple years. got it on ebay for like 50 bucks too.

I HAD 5 1/2 rear pods but now I bought some 6x9 pods and the 6x9 speakers I have to put in the new pods are too big the magnet on it hits the metal frame of the car and wont seal. So, my question is WHAT KIND OF 6X9'S WILL FIT PERFECTLY? Because my Infinity Kappa don't fit. they're too big, the magnet on them hits what look like the wheel well behind them. But right on for the help with the tweeters. WHAT DOES EVERYBODY HAVE (IF 6X9'S) IN THEIR REAR PODS??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

the stock rs didnt have tweeters it was wired for them tough,
I installed my 6x9 by taking the 5x7 and its housing out and then use a dremel and make just enough room for the 6x9 and bolt them in
(my rs didnt have tweeters, just had the wiring)

NOBODY understands! I HAVE THE ^x( pods, I DONT NEED TO DREMEL MINE OUT! I just want to know EXACTLY what kind of speaker (brand, model etc.) not size they have in the back as long as it's a 6x9. An MY RS does have tweeters, I can show you if someone can host my pics.... -WILL

I understand exactly what you are talkin' bout! I just bought new rear 6X9's and the mounting depth is too deep to fit! They bolt up in the pods just fine but they are too deep to fit in the stock locations. Now they are just sitting on my desk taking up space while I figure out what to do about it... Sucks balls because I can't complete my installation without figuring out how to get them to fit in the stock locations.
Also I do believe you that you have tweets in the dash cuz I used to have a 98 RS and it came with the "power package" ie- power windows, locks, etc. and also tweets in the dash.

Well, you can trace the pods onto some ABS plastic and cut out spacers, then get longer screws to screw them down, or with a hammer and some work you can beat in the metal behind the enclosure.

You messed up with the Infinity Kappas...they are hella deep. My Alpine TypeR's fit just fine :thumbsup

I tried the longer screw method.. and well now the pods fit in the car fine... but the speakers wont fit behind the rear plastic panels... no room to work at all!! sucks... solve one problem and run into another... And I am not so sure about beating down the metal due to the fact that that hump is in fact the wheel well.. I imagine they manufactured it to specs, so if I beat it down then I will have tire rubbing problems... Dont want that! I think I am just going to have to eat it on the speakers and buy new ones... damn I hate the thought of that... :(
