3958, Extending wire for remote sensor on dvd player Posted by eklipsdrvr99, Sep-16-02 04:01 PM
I just wanted to know if anybody knows how to do this. I'm trying to mount my dvd player in my trunk, but want the sensor for the remote up front. I opened up the dvd player and the wires for the sensor are really thin wires like the ones inside computers when you hook up sound cards and things like that. Would I just have to get some really thin wires like that and extend the wires? Just want to know if anybody has any experience with this before I try to do it. Thanks.

Unless you can work miracles don't do it. I hate to tell you that, but it sucks. You can't solder them because they are too thin of a wire stock and the soldering gun will burn right through them. The best thing you can do is look at the connector on the end. Some of them are 1/8" plugs. If so find an extender and use that.
