hey guys, i need your help.. im busy with school and dont got time to look into it yet, i think it might be the motor..
well the antenna does not go down, its on my 99 eclipse stock antenna.. it's just up in the air i can turn it around with my hand, feels like its moving a bit.. also i can push it down about 4-5 ins thats all.. what do you think? also can i replace/check the motor without removing the pole etc? can i just check it with removing the rear panel deal?.. hmm anyone know if this is under warrentyyyy yet? i got a 99gs eclipse with about 42,000 miles..

Uhm...when you turn your radio on and off does it make a weird noise?

Do you still have your factory radio or have you replaced yours recently?

Done anything in your cars interior, i.e. remove panels or cut wires?

You may have pulled the plug off or knocked the wire loose. If you put in a new radio you may not have hooked it up at all. Or there's a chance (although I'm not too sure) that there may be a fuse for that...check the fuses too.

hmm i have a aftermarket kendwood head unit... 2+yrs old .. i have a complete system, but it was done 2+yrs ago... if the radio is on or off the antenna is still up, and makes no noises.. but also if my radio is on i still get perfect reception ?... recently i got my tint redone in the rear and back sides, but i think my antenna was working before...fuse for the antenna motor?
cool

Yeah if you just had something done and it stopped working try to find out what they did that may have caused it. If your antenna went up and down after your kenwood install 2 years ago then that's not the problem.

You'll still get the reception without the motor working...two different animals ;)

well today i turned on and off my radio each time i did either or about 20-30 seconds you can hear the (motor) making noise?.. so seems like it working.. dealer said no warrenty for me.. and they said, it is the mask? which i believe is the antenna pole which goes up into the air which is connected to the motor?.. i will try and rip it apart after school tommorow to check it out.. is it hard to remove the antenna and motor, and pole etc?
cool

I have sort of a similar question...my antenna was bad to begin with when i bought the car ( went down halfway, stayed up, stayed down half the time)....but now it went down and wont come back up...when i took it into mitsu, they told me the motor was bad and likely had to be replaced...they quoted me at $400 for the job. Is there anyway i can get the part online and do it myself? or do i have do dish out the 400 bucks??

Thanks!
Jim

are you sure its the motor? turn on and off your power to the head unit with the car on the on spot, but dont let it run.. and listen if you can hear anything from the rear?.. if not then the motor is bad... the part from the dealer in ca is about $200 just for the motor... labor you can do it yourself, just takes time etc...i have not pulled it all out yet, but ill look into it tommorow, cuz my antenna went down and up all the way with me loosen the ring ontop, etc, but now it wont go back down...plus it makes a weird noise when it's at the top now for about 10 seconds,,,

Yeah dude, you're motor's shot. I've never done one in an Eclipse...but go to Circuit City. I think for labor and parts together it's just barely over $100.
