3617, Panasonic? Posted by optimuspeterson, Aug-15-02 01:30 PM
alright this may sound a little ricey but: i need a new deck and want a silver one. It goes with my interior scheme and that is very important to me. there aren't very many silver ones besides what panasonic has.
what are your guys opinions on them? which ones should i look for or stay away from?
if you know of any other silver decks please tell me.

Alpine makes a silver deck...light years ahead of panasonic. So does Kenwood, their silver one is rather nice. Uhm...Sony makes silver ones but I don't like sony...and the silver ones are their bottom of the line. I could probably get you a good Alpine deck for cheap if you wanted it.

I have a Panasonic head unit, model DFX700U. It is silver in the daytime, and glows blue at night. I'm sure it's not the best on the market, but it works fine for me.
It has a 4 volt preout, and 45x4 power on the deck itself. I'm not sure how accurate that power rating is because all my speakers are running off amps. It's also very adjustable, you can adjust bass, treble, balance, and fader 15 points in either direction. I think I paid $400 for the deck, but that was over a year ago.
Hope this helped.

Def. go with the panasonic they have some of the best laser pickup's on the planet. They are really nice units. You don't get the alpine name but my friend had an alpine in his car and it didn't dound any better than my panasonic. I don't know too much about alpine but I don't see why they are so much more expensive they don't seem to offer much more than anybody else.

I have internal cross-overs with variable cross over points high-pass and low pass(effect the pre-amp and internal amp), variable boost point control...meaning you can not only turn up the treble/bass but you can pick out what frequencies you want boosted, sub phase inversion, sub frequency width adjustment, 3 point BBE (basically a compressor limiter), and various other stuff.
Find it on a Panasonic ;)

internal crossovers suck ;)
i love panasonic, they have the best ergonomics out of any cd player out there, look good, are reliable, have nice displays, and the day/night feature is cool too. Plus they are priced great. I still find myself wondering why I switched to eclipse(prolly cause the name) :)
