hello i was hoping someone could help me with some questions about head units.
1- is there a certain depth of head units that can fit in our cars? beacause i remeber people saying that only certain ones fit?

2-can i use a four channel head unit even though it has 6 speakers or wont that be a problem?

3-finally, is there anything else i should know about head units fitting or working in an eclipse becasue i plan on buying one friday.

There is actually quite a bit of room behind our radios. You should have no probs with just about any aftermarket radio you choose. The stock radio is almost the same exact size of most aftermarket radios anyway. Yes, its fine to use the radios 4 speaker channels to drive 6 speakers. The front door and dash speakers are tied into eachother, but they have been wired to keep the total load on the radio the same as the rear ones, do dont worry there, i've been running with and without an amp to all 4 front speakers with only 2 radio channels for long times, and no probs at all. As for the size of the radio, just look for a DIN size radio, most aftermarket radios are this size.

Yeah, my only suggestion is to get a good strong head unit. I have an Alpine 7863 and I love it (3 years old and strong as hell!). If you go with a JVC, Jensen, Aiwa, or other craps in a box you might not get a strong enough internal amp to handle that kind of resistance splitting. But in general your better Kenwoods, Pioneers, Sony's, Alpines, Rockfords, Eclipse...bla bla bla....those should work just fine. My cd player is HUGE compared to most. I think it's about 3/4" longer than my factory and the factory is the same size as most aftermarket radios.
