I was wondering if anyone of you who did a custom box in your car...if you have the exact dimensions and shit to cut each piece of carboard. I dont need anything super fancy, just so it looks nice...rather than just a box sitting on my trunk floor. It could either be in the trunk of the rear seats cause i dont need those.

SO anyone got the dimension/directions you used to do yours? and do ya got pics so i can see how it turned out?

i did my own box, but its just a plain rectangular sealed box.. but depending on your subwoofer(s), it might have different specs for whats the recommended enclosure, so what works great for one person but not work so good with your sub.. to figure out the dimensions, just break everything up into shapes, like a triangle here, square there, etc. then make sure you don't forget to make sure you compute the internal volume minus the volume of the basket of the sub to figure out if its going to be the right size..

also, when constructing the box, make sure you predrill your holes and what worked for me was to put a layer of wood glue on the wood, then screw it together.. at the end, what you can do to see if there are any leaks, you can use a flashlight in a completely dark room and see if any light gets out, also you can put the sub in and play it and just feel around for any air moving out the sides or anything.. to make sure you don't have any leaks, you might want to put some sealant on the inside of the box by all the endges..

I just did one. Made it so I still have a spare that I can get out with the box in. I will take pictures for you but getting exact measurements is impossible now because it's put together.

Does anyone know of a website with instructions for this? I want to build a fiberglass custom box for my two 10"s and I dont knwo the specs or how to build the correct box and shit. I want it fiberglassed into the back of the car as well and under some plexi with mirror and neons. I dont want much do I?

theres alot of information out there for building boxes. i really havent found 1 site that covers everthing, but you can pick up a little here and little there if you really reseach it. you have to plan alot, because not every sub will work in every box. so first figure out which subs your gonna use, then talk to the manufacturer to find out what cubic ft range they fall in. sony xplods are .7 cubic feet for instance. then decide how you wanna build it. ive built 3 boxes in my car now and im still not totally happy with the results. so plan on expiermenting. in my personal experience, subs that point backwards hit harder and louder. mine are currently facing UP which looks better, but i dont get the low frequencies that i used to.

if your good with wood working building the box should be easy, building the right box is tuff! i would suggest building a couple boxes and testing each one out until you find one that works.



heres what i did, its basically a rectangle box with 2 subs facing up, on top of the box is a thin piece of wood cut to fit the trunk. i could measure the box thats underneith if you like, but the top peice was that hard part.

What I was thinking of doing was angling the subs up and to the back of the car against where the back seat folds up. Then in front of them laying flat would be the amps, one on each side of the computer. The computer is gonna be cased in plexi and I want the amps kind of dropped into the floor under plexi, ontop of mirror. Then hidden with the amps woudl eb a neon tube. All of this to lay flat on the bottom fo the hatch as so I could throw a blanket onit and cover it up if I need to use the hatch. Fold the back seat down to expose the fuses, cap and the bottom backside of the subs through a wall of plexi. I just dont even know where to begin. Anyoen in ohio want to help?
