3371, Anyone familiar with Avital alarms Posted by mike_d, Jul-26-02 03:19 PM
Ok i installed my alarm yesterday (thanks to XtremeRS's wiring diagram) but i noticed that the dome light dosent turn on when i disarm it and also after the two chirps to arm it, it chirps an adittional three times and the lights flash another three times. Are the two related? Im assuming I installed something incorrectly. Also i dont have a hood pin hooked up yet could it be that? Any help is appreciated.

Not sure completely on Avital systems but it sounds like your getting a faulty sensor alarm. Might be because you don;t have the hood pin hooked up but like I said I'm not sure if they are dependent on it or not. Try to hook it up even just holding it in your hand and see if when you arm it if it will do the same thing. You might want to go online and download the manual and it should tell you what the 3 chirps are for also.....

One chirp should be ARM two chirps should be DISARM. If it chirps 3 times when disarming, then that says the alarm had been triggered. Count the number of flashes the red LED gives out after disarm, and that gives the zone # of the trigger. (ex. 2 led flashes= zone 2). Now if the alarm chirps once when armed, then shortly after chirps again, that means either your door pin is opened, the trunk pin, or the hood. This just means the alarm is seeing one of those sensors active. This is a new Avital right? within a year or so? If you have an older Avital, then this all might be different...The new ones are made by DEI, which is what i install..

right now i have a problem with a door, the car says the door is open always, i can figure it out, well i have to arm the alarm manually, and of course when it arms (1 chirp) it waits for 2,3 seconds and then give 3 chirps(telling me, DOOR OPEN) maybe de hood pin or you have a door open.
