3287, windsheild flexing Posted by farmdogg55, Jul-21-02 05:39 AM
when i have my system on blast, my front windsheild moves/flexes. you can physically see it from the outside of the car. my rearview is useless cuz it shakes so much it cant even stay up. will my windshield crack or anything???? i really really dont want this to happen. just wondering if anyone had any experience with this or any thing i can do to stop it. my hatch does the same thing, but the whole hatch moves, not just the window like the front, so im not worried about that. any suggestions or ideas??TIA

I have the same problem, from what I've been told your windshield has to move ALOT in order for it to break due to speakers. It has something to do with the curve of the windshield. Mine flexes ALOT during SPL runs and it never broke on me. Just watch for visble cracks or runs and you should be fine.

How hard does your system hit? My hatch flexes pretty bad where the back window meets the body. I haven't noticed my windshield flexing that much, but I haven't really looked either. But I've had my stereo in my car for 2 years now without any problems with my windows. For comparison, my car hits 134db.

With my new sub I'm hitting 152.2, but that will go up a little once my new amp arrives.

i never had it measured, but i am guessing somewhere in the low to mid 140's. i had a friend that measured 148 and it sounds the same as his.

i have two 12's. they were only like $90 a piece and they pound way better than the more expensive MTX's i had in there before. have em running off an MTX amp. i will be adding another amp soon for my component speakers. dont even have the amp bridged and its still pounds hard. some day i will get around to finish building my custom enclosure, i started it a while ago. right now i just have the box sitting in the hatch...looks too ghetto for me.
