Focal Utopia 136w hands down are the best componets momey can by I have them in my car and they sound amazeing. Music never sounded so good. Great mid bass, perfect highs every note as clear as a virgin blow job TRUST ME if you have the money get them i've had them all and nothing comes close . BUT, on the otherhand there is a set called rainbow that cost 10k that come in a steel brief case with rubber gloves to handle them those I heard were the best ever. In all realistic terms Focal Utopias are the best componets out.

>virgin blow job

??? that ain't all that great :P
have you heard the mb quart qsd 213's? i heard the qsd 216's and they were great. but i haven't been able to listen to the 213's, which is the size i need. i actually really wanted to hear a comparison of the focal utopias and the mb quart q series. you caught me off guard when you said you had these, but GREAT! have you heard the mb quarts and you like yours better?

>clean as a virgin blow job

meaning no nasty STDs

anyway i've heard the q series and like I said Utopia hands down. Never been to fond of MB Quart there highs scream but have ok mid bass. The Utopias have a warm sound to them you can actually feel all the high notes and not want to cover your ears, and by far the best mid bass i've ever heard from a componet set.

I've always been a big fan of Diamond Audio's speakers. I have heard several of them in people's cars, and i'm always in awe. I would personally have some, but a bit too pricey for me. I think MB Quarts are really good pieces too, but i always thought the highs from their metal dome tweeters were way to bright, and metalish sounding, and would hurt my ears at a very high volume. Not exactly a pleasurable listening experience really..My best advise to you, as I tell many others, is to go out and demo as many speakers as you can, to find out what kind of sound you are looking for. You will be surprised as how different many speakers can sound from one another..Usually, like the old saying goes, you get what you pay for. I have Sony Explode 5.25 3 ways up front, and Sony's 6.5 3 ways in the back, combined with my Eclipse equalizer, and amplifier power going to these speakers, it sounds awsome IMO. I'm not competeing anymore, so these speakers do nicely, and got them for a great, economical price. The equalizer makes a world of difference for how speakers sound too. You can customize the sound to your exact tastes.

I don't know if this means anything to anyone, but 6.5" will fit in the doors w/ no problems what so ever. I have some pioneer 6.5 " 2 ways in my doors. The speakers fit in the stock plastic piece in the door. the only catch is that I had to cut a hole in the door panel and use the pioneer grills. But hell, it looks pretty nice now. Justin

Don't forget about Boston Acoustics Pro series. I had a set of the pro 6.4 and they rocked. Probably the best midbass I've ever heard. And yes, 6 1/2inch speakers will easily fit in our doors.

how many watts did you have going to those boston pros.. i just got some 6.4s and am going to be only giving them 50 watts each... i might also hook up the tweeets so they have 50 watts each..

...however, i'm gonna be running the q-forms kick panels in my car, and they only fit 5.25" components. any other suggestions/feedback? i'm thinking about the kicker rs5c or the alpine type r spr-136a. anybody have any input on these particular components?

get bigger kick panels, or if you can, make the hole in the kicks bigger..

the alpine type-r compnenets are really clean andhandle mad power. My boy has a prototype set in his car and they scream w/ ~50 watts to them. I like them, i will be doing my entire car over in alpine in the next few months. Helps when your friends father is the owner of Myer Emco and works for alpine :):thumbsup

Yeah I'd put the Type R's up there with the Fanatic Q's by Rockford. I've had them both. Never had the MB Quartz, or Focul....but I've listened to them and they're bad ass. Any of these mentioned are awesome. It's like fighting over who makes a better car, lamborghini or ferrari...who cares :P

The type r's are great. why are you getting q forms to run 5.25's when 6.5's fit in the door?? and your tweeters fit in the dash?

Yeah, don't waste your money on Q forms. I have my 6.5's in the door, tweets flush mounted between the door handle bezel (guess that's what you call it) and the air vent...then another set of tweets in the dash locations for front imaging. Sounds freakin awesome and didn't cost me a couple hundred bucks for space consuming Q forms.

>why are you getting q forms to run 5.25's when 6.5's fit in the door?? and your tweeters fit in the dash?

because of imaging

The imaging qualities of Q Forms are only useful in competitions when no one is in the car. Once you get your legs in the way you lose your "high quality" sound. Trust me, for a daily driver they are a waste of money.

hmm... now you got me thinking. anyone else have any feedback on this?

Alpine Type-X components, Flagship 3 way (6.5, 5.25 and tweeter). I have yet to find these on a soundboard, but I'm drooling already just looking at the Alpine website. Pretty painful though, at ~$800 us for a set.

Yeah, the Type X's are badass....but to be honest with ya, they aren't worth 4 times the cost of the Type R's unless you're going for some kind of major IASCA tournament.
