3186, need BARGAIN system ideas Posted by ghost, Jul-10-02 02:35 PM
Yo peeps....
I need prices and ideas for the best bang for your buck speakers, subs, amps, etc...
I have almost decided to replace all of my speakers since they are starting to blow right and left.
In addition, my friend said I should get a good amp and a good 12" sub when I get the speakers.
So anyway, I don't know much about this stuff, but if anyone has any ideas on the best buys/setup for this stuff, pleeease share with me!
*pass to the right*

Ebay!!! I got a set of pioneer 6x9 and 6.5 top of the line for 30 bucks and a jvc kamilion for $200 2 years ago. ummmm Alipne type r 15 sub for 150 bucks. Just stay away from things you havnt heard of, and what I do is take the product name or model number in yahoo and then you can get reviews and stuff.

I think Crunch Drive amps are good for the money. Find one for under 150 with a LOT of power. They are underrated, so get one that advertises a lot of power. The Pioneer VCCS subs are about 65 each for 10" subs.

I found these:
Pioneer 6x9 TS-A6946 for $30 like you said. I don't understand where I'm supposed to go to find a review on yahoo? Do you have a link for it?
Oh yeah I found these too:
"Pioneer Dual-Cone Speakers. The model number is TS-162 and are 80WMax. They measure 6-1/2". Frequency response id 45-18,000Hz and the gross weight is 3 lb. 6 oz."
I know jack shit about speakers...are these good?
What are some other good brands besides pioneer...anybody got any recommendations? pllleeeeeaaaaase ;-)
Thanks

That sounds like a little much for my needs.
I'm just starting out bro...on a budget. But if I had the money for something like that, it sounds like a good deal to me.
Thanks

you might want to wait around for some sort of tech expo thing in ur area where everything is 50% off. I went to one and bought a $300 amp, 2 $100 subs, and a $200 box all for $300. $600 sound system at 1/2 price.

I have had many positive comments from people on my audio system. They all were shocked that i spent soo little. I too was on a budget, and though I wont be winning any competitions, it is more than enough to fulfil 90% of peoples audio tastes, including my own. What I bought is in my signature. here is their specs and prices.
The front door speakers-50$for the pair new. they are around 35watts rms and 150 watts peak
the rear speakers-60$ for the pair new.they are 35watts rms and 160 watts peak.
My sub was off ebay new in box for $150. it is 500 watts rms!!! keep in mind when buying bazooka you wont spend any money on a enclosure also and it takes up little space in my trunk.
As for my amp for the sub, you can cind a 600 watt amp for around 100-150$
my head unit came with the car, but your factory one should be fine.
I made a very good audio system with lots of bass for about $350-400
Keep in mind that when on a budet you should build your system as you go. You dont have to buy all at once. I bought the back speakers first, then a few weeks later the front ones, then a few weeks later got the sub, and now am buying the amp.
there are other companies out there, but im just giving you an idea of a typical performance "budget" system. I have no complaints at all with my system, its enough to make my mirrors and seats vibrate from the bass, and your ears bleed from the treble...this is of course only at extreme levals of sound.
Good luck with your system!

you could prolly hit up circuit city, get some Polk EX 6 1/2's for the front and back ($59 per pair), get the sony xplod 760 watt amp they have there, it's pretty clean that's $200, get a cheap, high wattage amp for your subs (again Kentwood KAC-729S 100wRMSx2, 300x1 bridged $200), and get some MTX 4000 series 12's normally buy one get one free from circuit city for like $79. If you have some time, check out ebay, you can get the absolute cheapest prices on all this stuff, prolly half off the prices I just quoted

I got my entire system for 600 installed, but that was a special deal, 2 vega 12's, 600 watt amp, and pioneer head unit, and it hits damn hard, cerwin vegas are good subs and you could get them pretty cheap, build your own box, and get a used 450-600 watt amp, and you are good to go, if you have your stock head unit you can use that but you gotta get a 25 dollar pieace to make it work, thats my idea.

Infinity Reference 5 1/4"s and a pair of 6x9"s
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
How much are those new? Are they good speakers?
I was just at walmart and found Sony Xplod series speakers or whatever 6x9 and 6 1/2 each for about $60 new. Are they just as good?
Will I be able to have these speakers really loud without blowing them? (at least a lot louder than stock?)
What would you guys recommend???
THANKS

3202, RE: need BARGAIN system ideas Posted by Blk95Talon, Jul-19-02 03:06 AM
when building a system keep in mine that it all should come in "balance" when your done. Meaning: your speakers will put out accurate and detailed mids and highs, and your subs will pick up the low frequencies that the speakers will distort at. if your goal is to build a system under $450 know right away that your speakers will not put out loud clear bass. that is the job of the subs so dont try and put extra stress on the speakers. when you turn up the speakers loud with the windows down it will still sound like crap cause they will pump out distortion, that is unless you tune your system. Use your head unit to turn down the bass to a low level for the speakers and have the treble and mid turned up. then turn your system up as loud as you think you will ever listen to it. then use your amp to set the crossover for the sub so that it picks up and blends into your music seamlessly. in the end you will have a very good system without spending over $450.
Hope that helps =)

oh also go with the infinities over the sonys. im familiar with those (friend has them) if they are in good condition they will sound great.
