3169, who is the audio guru here??? Posted by speedracer21, Jul-08-02 07:43 AM
just wondering, cause i have a av question. I just bought a in-dash dvd player and 7" screen. what i want to do is not buy the tv tunner. Just cause i'm outta cash :) but i was wondering if i could use my sony deck to rought the sound from the dvd into the speakers. since the dvd player only has one set of audio rca's. Can i plug in the audio rca's from the dvd into the bus audio in on my sony and have it work? i know the deck has cd changer and tv tuner controls. Yes? No? Maybe so??

Hmm, not knowing the exact model of your deck I can't really say yes for sure. I believe it is possiable though. I know sony's are kinda funky. Normally if you had a cd changer the cd changer would use those audio in RCA's.

I belive the Sony audio bus is meant to hook up other sony equipment, not other brands..please correct me if i'm wrong someone..The only way to use your deck to listen to the dvd player, is if your deck has rca audio inputs on the back of it..Thats one way. If your deck doesn't have audio rca inputs on the back of it, you can use whats called an FM modulator. These are what add on cd changers use to non-cd controlling radios to listen to the audio signal. Basically, you run your audio out from the dvd player, to the FM modulator, and the modulator will play the sound through a pre-set radio station, that is selectable on the FM modulator. The quality of sound will be lesser than using an rca audio input on the deck itself, but that really is your only options with your current deck.
