3065, Positive or negative door trigger?? Trying to wire HU to stay on till door opens Posted by Squid, Jun-27-02 01:03 AM
I found this wiring diagram so that my head unit stays on until I open the door even after I’ve pulled the key from the ignition like on the new GM cars.

But I don’t know if we have a negative or positive door trigger. Can someone explain the difference?
Thanks, -J

We have negative door trigers. This means when the door is opened, the switch sends a ground out the wire that is attached to the pin switch..

i have a problem with "something" that is keeping the door ajar from shutting off, i bought both front sensors and the hatch one is in good conditions.
I know that that this one wire goes from the drivers side under the steering wheel to the drivers door, hatch and finally passanger door
Having a negative wire means that, right now with an open door, the circuit is open, and if cut the wire right in front of the drivers door and grounded it will shut off?

With the door closed, the wire at the pin switch will see +12 volts. When the door is opened, it grounds out, and sends a ground signal out the wire. So i guess, yes, the circuit is opened with the door closed, and it see + 12 volts because it is seeing the other side of the circuit, and then when the door is opened, the circuit is completed, and it gets the needed ground to light up the dome lights.

i will try this this afternoon, and what do you mean by the pin switch, is the sensor that's on the side of the door?
Thanks

I tried to wire my lights, the ones that come on with the door open. I wanted to have a switch to turn them off/on. Im not sure what happened but I kept blowing my radio fuse in the engine bay. How do I make this work?
