if i get a deep cell battery and a cap, what is the highest ampere that my amp can take from the car without causing any adverse effects.
in other words if i got an amp with a max draw of like 100 amps could i get away with not getting a new/rebuilt alternator if i got the above listed items?

If you get a true deep cycle battery, like the optima yellow top or red top, you really wont need a cap. Our stock alts put out around 90-95 amperes at full output..off idle of course..I'm running over 2500 watts on my stock alt, and no probs whatsoever with dimming lights or dead battery. I have the optima yellow top too, and no caps..You can get away with a 100 amp draw off of the stock alt, but it will decrease it's life somewhat. Dont let it draw that much for more than a few seconds, or it will damage it rather quickly...If its a short burst of bass that makes the amp draw 100 amperes, then it should be fine, just dont over do it...If you want an upgraded alternator, check out Ohio Generator, they custom build high output alts, but kinda pricey..A battery and a Cap will do nothing to help that 100 ampere draw, the power has to come from the alt, as this is what makes the power in the first place...Battery and caps are just energy storage pieces..
