Ok, Im lookin at cheap amps in the 1400-1600 watt range. Im lookin at Legacy, boss, soundstreem, pyle, and others. Ive used legacy for 4 years, but I know there is better, but Im cheap. whats ur opinon

Well you may not like my opinion, but i don't want to even know how mcuh money i have wasted in my younger teen years on crappy, cheap car audio equipment. Blowing up one thing, and getting another piece of crap, thinking that the 1000 watts it was rated at would sound awsome...the bottom line, buy a good quality, major brand amp. These amps will put to shame the brands you mentioned above, and even though their power output may be like 500 watts, the cheap amps ratings of 1500 watts is way overkill. That power rating is at clipping, and max power, with a crap load of distortion...Spend the cash for a more expensive amp, you won't regret it. Take this from a guy who has had damn near every brand of cheap car audio products, and almost every one had busted some how..Well the amps i have now, take the 1100d's for example, they retail for around 750 bucks a piece..I have put these amps though all hell, overheated and shut them down with their protection circuits many, many times, loads of full output DB dragracing competitions, and they dont even shed a tear :) Tell me one cheap amp that can do that....Spend your money wisely, you wont regret it...Save up if you need to...

Dude listen to XtremeRS at this moment I have a BOSS amp rated at 1400watts for 4 channels, 150x4rms. I dont even think its even half of what it claims the RMS is and if it is the sound quality is awfull. Not only is the sound quality bad it wont last, at this moment I am planning on buying a better quality amp (Kenwood, fosgate, Kicker or MTX) since only 2 channels work for the amp and its a 4ch. A quality amp might be more expesive now but it will be well worth it in the long run.
Check EBAY great quality amps are almost 50% off compared to Crutchfield or any store price.

yeah I know that guys, but I dont have $400 for a good amp. Like Ive said, Ive been using a legacy 800 watt amp for 3 years now with no prob. I know its not pushing 800, but I dont care, it still sounds good to me

IMO Don't waste the money. I agree with XtremeRS. I spent $200 on a cheap am rated at 450W X 1 at 4 ohms and after 2 years it was dead. I spent $100 more on an Alpine amp that had a lower power rating and it is LOUDER and CLEARER and hits DEEPER than the USAcoustics crappy amp I had.

good amps are kicker, alpine, rockford, and MTX, just to name a few w/o going into macintosh, mmats and the high end amps

from my experience, mtx amps are great for their price... you can get some pretty powerful amps for a pretty decent price... and jbls are pretty decent good too, as far as lower priced amps go.

Like the saying goes, you get what you pay for. I agree totally with ExtremeRS, if you buy cheap then you'll be buying again and agian over time. If the amp you have now is still working and doing a fairly decent job then leave it in for the time being and save some more cash and get a good amp. Better to do it right the first time. As far as decent amps, I ran and still run 2 of the original Alpine 3522's for my mids and highs and they have been running strong for 8 years now. Just steer clear of things like Rockwood, Jensen, Audiovox, Sparkomatic, etc and you should be OK. If you ask me you can;t go wrong with anything good, ie....Orion, Rockford Fosgate, Alpine, Soundstream, Pheonix Gold etc.........Yeah they cost a lot more, but I gaurantee that a 25x2 Orion HCCA 225R will out perform any of the 100 dollar 3000 watt amps any day of the week.......

i'd look into crossfire and cadence amps, mtx is good too as mentioned earlier. Do you just want some bump or do you need to wake up all the neighbors? you really don't need much power at all in our cars to get good bass.

I got a pyle....dont really like it...but it was cheap and it isnt all that bad. I didn't want it to sound perfect cuz im more about makin my car go fast and look good then sound good. My friend has a legacy around a 1000 watts and it sounds good to me. Save some money on something cheap and put it into makin the car even faster! IMO

Ill second that. I have an audiophonics 4 channel 1100 watt amp pushing 2 audiobahn 12's and 2 1 MTX 12. Then i have a Soundstream 100x4 pushing 2 SPL 3-way 6x9's (these i had never heard of and they sound better than my old Pioneer 3-way 6x9's. They are louder and cleaner and have a 40 oz magnet), 2 SPL 3way 5 1/4's and 2 Pioneer 1 inch tweeters. I am happy with that 1100 audiophonics. That pushes my subs real good, clean and hard. I also have a cheap cap that i got for 150 bux, its a pyramid. My system sounds pretty damm loud, and clear too. Im happy with that. The most expensive single item i have on my system is my headunit. I have a Premier P940MP which retails at around 900 dollars (b-day present from my brother). And i believe my system sounds pretty loud because i have gotten plenty a tickets because of it lol. Anyways, good luck man, and try to see if u can find urself an audiophonics amp, thatll push all ur speakers :)

well I think im gana get a legacy or power acustics, i duno, I rather blow the cash some where else (I got body work and more LCDs in the mail) he he

i would go with a crunch amp, they are really inexpensive and decent quality. Almost everyone i know has Crunch amps including me, Eclipse804 and Eric97GS. Get them cheap at www.justamps.com

i used to have a poweracoutsic amp and i sold it and got a rockford with half as much power rockford are really overpowered on what they say and they sound AWESOME for 270 bucks i got the 400s with a 4 year warrentee and i really cant complain i learned my lesson like xtreamrs

Ya the Crunch Drive V-series is nice, and cheap too. But just don't expect it to have as much power as advertised, just like the other cheaper brands. Get a really high powered one that uses large fuses and you should be getting a great amp.
