is there a big difference between the expensive monster cables and the gold-plated radio shack's?

very slight difference. not worth the money imo. with sub woofers i dont notice a difference at all. with my house speakers there is a slight more clarity, but not worth the 70 bucks i spent on them damn cables. if your going compeition you may want them, if not save your money for another mod.

I totally disagree. The signal cable is one of the most important parts of you system. If you go the cheap route there is a good chance that you will induce noise into your system. Why do you think that most competition head units have 4volts out? It's not to add power, it's so you can lower the gains on your amps so you don't induce noise from your signal cables. Definately spend the extra money and get nice cables.

I agree with him tottaly, You will not be sorry when you have the total lack of ground noise.

ok... so then who makes high quality stuff?

I prefer streetwires zero noise.

street wires or monster cable. Hell even stinger oxygen free, all those are good to me.

I say go with the stinger thats what I ran on my punch 800a2 and 400a4 to my 3 kicker solo's and kicker resolutions. 4 gauge power to a 1fared cap. and 8 gauge out to the amps. but I've always ran stinger wire, and make sure you get sheilded rca cables for sure. just to help noise reduction.

um I've never heard of them. however I'll bet that there over rated. That is just a guess though

The best rca's i have had experience with are the "twisted pair" kind, as this design will cut out most if not all induced noise. Even the best shielded cables will still pick up some noise. But remember that most noise can be avoided by proper installation of power and rca's, and most importantly a good, clean, tight ground will prevent most noise in a system. Our cars seem to be pretty good with having little noise too. Also, a good, fully charged battery will help with noise too, as a battery is a natural noise filter. It helps filter out the noise caused by the charging of the alternator. So if your battery is bad, you have a greater chance of getting some noise in your system. Most major rca's manufacturers make twisted pair cables, and they aren't any more expensive than the monster cables..I'm not even using this type of rca, but i have some good shielded cables, and i have NO noise whatsoever..The optima yellow top battery helps out greatly too...not to mention my grounds are bolted to the chassis with a 1/2" bolt and nut.
