Posted by Chamuko, May-18-02 08:01 PM
Ok heres what I have to work with. I have 5 amps , 2 4-ways, and 3 2 ways. 3 10" subs, components up front, and 6x9's in da rear. 2 caps, And the wirring ant distribution blocks. Im trying to set up something nice, what do you guys recomment I shouyld do? I also bought the adapters to hook up my laptop (or any other rca cables ) to my stereo) and the DVD drive for it.

Oh BTW everything is JBL - pro power series. ;)

Hmmm.... that's a strange assortment of car audio... it'd help some if you posted the sizes of the speakers though. But I'll give you my take. Put 8" in the doors, 6.5" in kicks, 1 or 2 pairs of tweets in dash/pillars, those 6x9s in the back (turn them way down though to help soundstage/imaging), and the 3 10s in the hatch. Crossover network is a must. That setup will leave you with a very nice sounding system.

Let us know exactly what you have... I'm curious!

I second that... ditch the oval speakers... get a pair of 6.5" 2-ways. If that's out of the question then keep the 6x9s.

Ok , I got 6.5's for the front. Throuw out the 6x9's? Why didnt you guys reply sooner ;) I already cut up the pods to fit them. Ok , so im planning on bridging the 2 4-way amps and run the seperates and 6x9s off that. Uhm, putting the passive cross overs in the door pockets. I have the pioneer 9300 head unit, so do I still need the cross overs w/ that? I know its not the same ,but itll do right? And the 3 other amps ill have em bridged to each one of my subs ( 300 watts x 1 ) , Any suggestions ? Im am especially open to ideas in da hatch area, how the hell am i gonna put those 3 subs?

you should double check about this... but I have my sub facing up so that it bounces off the hatch window.. I have been told that you get the best SQ if its faced towards you, best SPL facing the back of the trunk, and a mix of both if its pointed up.. due to space and all that in our trunks, you might be better off facing it up so they're all facing the same way

What can I do? I like the levels and sound bandpass boxes offer, but they also take up more room. I want to keep my tire since I have had 2 flat tires this year.

ok tell me what kind of amps an speakers these are.i have to disagree about the 2 sets of tweets that is way to much.unless you are are dealing with a cheap set.but i would still upgrade to anicer set cuz it is a pain to have 4 tweets in your car it just don't look right.plus if you are building kicks you want to keep the tweets in there with the mid it will have better staging that way
