I am looking to get a new system in my car as the one i have now is the hand me down from my first car when I was 16. Anyways, as for subs, I am looking for loud and clean in that order but not by much. My question is would it be a better set up to go with one 15" or 13.5" that can take very high rms and peak power or two 12" with lower power handling. I dunno wanna go with two of the high powered type because I am not looking to rattle my car apart but at the same time I want this to look as good as possible after I have gotten the best sound.

Well i have one high powered 15" sub, and it sounds excellent. I still personally give the better sound edge to having 2 same size subs though. If your not into shaking the ground, either one 15" sub will be just fine, or look into 2 10" subs. Every car i have heard with 2 10's has sounded really good. The choice is up to you. Either way you go, be sure to have a box that is built properly, and that is the recomended air space for the sub, as this will have the greatest effect on the sound from the sub..If you want really accurate, deep bass, go with a sub that wants a sealed box. If you want some more loudness to the bass, and want to boom, chose a ported box. I personally like the sound from a sealed box a little bit better, but i have built some awsome sounding ported boxes also too, but they were definately louder than the sealed, but sacraficed slight amounts of low bass extension and accuracy. Esp with ported boxes, its all in the design of the box and port size..

Yeah i agree with extreme RS, however with 2 12's you can still achieve either great sound quality or some pretty quiverin bass. with my system being crossed over, my highs are crystal clear and the bass is great. and with my hu i can make it sound from anywhere to good sound quality to crazy bass... at least enough to make road signs look like their dancin too.. lol. sound quality = 2 10's, bass = 1 15", anywhere in between, 1 cross over, 2 12's :), good luck man

I have 2 10" PPi subs in my car, it sounds very clean, nice bass too. It can't be heard from outside the car very well, but I need to get more power to the subs. A buddy of mine has 2 12" MTX, it has quite a bit more bass, even with less power, but it's not near as clean.

thats cuz your subs are more of an sq sub an the mtx are more for spl.the best bet would be to get new substo get more bass.i am not sure of the spec of them subs of hand but maybe you could port them.that would gte you loader
