It looks like I am looking at a year before I can install my system and Im going to have to store it. Im not installing it until all the body work is done to my car so in all reality im lookin at about 2 years. I have an Eclipse 8051 HU, USAmps USA-2000, USAmps 100x, Focal Utopia 136w componets, and 2 Digital Design 9012s. All are in there original boxes and i've already had all this equipment for the past year. Would it just be ok to keep them how they are now, in there original boxes in a corner of my room. Or is there a better way to store them?

I don't see any problem with that, audio equipment is pretty tough, so you should be ok, i would just be sure they are in the boxes and in some plastic covering, most stuff comes like that anyway..

I would leave it in the boxes and just put plastic bags on them so they don't get wet (you never know).

i would get one of those super sealers and seal em in plastic like cheese, it will stay fresh twice as long ;-)

I don't see a problem with storing audio equipment that long. I must ask, why buy it if your not going to use it? The audio market is very similar to the computer market. Stuff gets outdated quick. Its almost like buying a new computer and not using for 2 years. By then its old and outdated. If it was me in your situation. I would just sell the stuff and then buy new stuff when the time comes. That way you at least be up to date. Not to mention the fact that with a 1-2year time frame before you install it the warranty will be long gone. It would suck to hook up something and it be dead.

Well you see im going with a "from nothing to lots" approach with my car and have the car audio area pretty much covered. If you know anything about the equipment I have mentioned above than you know its top of the line if not close and will sound good even 2 years down the road. Im Buying my Hahn Stage 3 w/ 20g and FMIC, my body kit, Level 10 PTS kit w/ blue clutch option, Level 10 or Fal tranny cooler, rims/tires, suspension etc.. all 1 thing at a time and would rather just slap all of this on at the same time than to slap 1 thing on just to have to replace it down the road and save me money. You see where im coming from now?

I think Dan's point is that it may be top of the line now, but in 2 years from now, it will just be old. It will look old, and people will wonder why you have such an "old" system. I would just sell all that stuff on ebay, and in two years, you can newer better stuff at lower prices (prices are always dropping).

This system I have now will put to shame systems that are out 3 years from now I know it will. I've been into car audio since I was 12 and every componet I have which is listed above is so far ahead in technology such as other companys like Rockford Fosgate and JL Audio. All the guys around here have that stuff and think its the best available and you ask them about USAmps or Focal or Digital Designs and there like "what" "whats that"

It won't look old either i've had this setup in there original boxes a year ago and they look just the same as if I were to pull them out and look at them now. The magnet and voice coil structure puts 98% of the subs and componets out there to shame. About them getting out of date or "old" USAmps has used there same technology in all there amps since over 15 years ago, they were at the top then and they are at the top now "." if you know your circut boards just look at a 1000 watt USAmp and then look at a circut board from a 1000 watt Rockford Fosgate amp.

Xtreme RS, 1st ass :) (j/k) auto I beleive is an authorized dealer of both Eclipse and USAmps so you should tell them your view since you don't own them but most likely have some sort of expierence with them.

All of 99eclipse's equipment is def very good quality stuff. When i left the DB Dragracing scene last summer, DD(digital designs) was winning more competitons than any other sub out there. I was going to actually get one, but came out of the scene. I had done a lot of research on the DD subs, and they are absolutly very well built. They can handle shit loads of power, and are very, very loud when pushed hard. They are pretty expensive, but well worth it. They custom build every sub, test it, and use the most durable, high quality parts for the motor assembly and the fram of the sub. Is it the very best sub out there? I wouldn't speculate on that, but its def one of my first choices as far as a quality, loud sub. Focal is too very good quality, a lot of auto sound competitors use them and win with them. Nothing really needs to be said about US amps, they have proven themselfves year after year, and still win many competitons, and still get excellent reviews. Their amps will outperform about 90% of other amps out there, if you can give them the needed current for them to operate at their max. The Eclipse HU is also a very good quality piece, their stuff hasn't pyhsically changes too much over the past few years, but they don't have to, their stuff is already top notch. So to sell all of your equipment now would be a waste IMO. You have very good quality equipment now, why bother to sell it and have to buy it all over again, as you will most likely buy the same brand stuff later on anyway. True, newer equipment will look "newer", but will it be "better"? Well to a point, possibly, but how much better? IMO, not much, as you already have the really good stuff. Some serious competitors like to have brand new equipment when they do their cars up, so to them they have the latest stuff to show. Keep what you got, it will sound awsome when its installed. And as a side note, my personal opinion on JL Audio is this. Their older subs and older designs to me were somewhat lower quality, and they really could not handle the power without burning up a coil. Their latest W7's are an excellent sub, very well designed, and are quite loud. Worth the money? I say yes, if you got it, and want the JL brand name in your car. For the money, there are still many other subs out there that will outperform the mighty JL's..Digital Designs is one of them...Ok, i am done for now :)

i could understand, saving all the engine work for one time, suspension/brakes for one time, etc. but everything is kind of mutually exclusive. i don't see you saving money by installing the turbo and system the same week; maybe exhaust and turbo, alarm and stereo, or something like that would be beneficial. It will also be funner that way if you ask me. And when you get board of stereo then you have engine mods to look forward to or suspension, etc etc. Because face it, you get bored of stuff (or at least lose a little interest) unfortunately.

the warranty issue is also very good, especially with that head unit, you'll lose some of the esn coverage period and eclipse head unit quality control isn't the best in the world

My point on it being "old" is that it will look old two years from now. If you say USAmps and DD has the best stuff now, then don't you think their new stuff will be even "Better" in two years? Also, even if they don't improve it, they will change the aesthetic design of the products so it might look old just because of the style. That's just my opinion - I wouldn't keep audio equipment around that long because newer and better stuff will come out. It's kinda like if I was building this super computer and got a 2 ghz processor with 132 mb video card, 1 gb ram, etc, but waited two years (in two years, it will be junk and cost a lot less for better stuff).

My stuff is new now and will be new when I install it as none of it has seen any power so its still new even if its a year down the road. If you mean old technologicly speaking then it really doesn't matter. Why does all these car audio companys come out with a new HU or sub each year? Its called marketing and they do it to keep on making money every year off of technology that they know they could very well have put out on the street 2 years ago. JL Audio by a long run has the best marketing (btw Xtreme those w7s are nice)but if you look at higher end companys and there products such as USAmps for example 15+ years same technology same amps just different model numbers thats it. Digital Designs- same motor structures, same materials, another model number thats it. Same goes with Focal. JL Audio does make some descent equipment but they are in car audio to screw you and I do not like the way they run there company for example look at there voice coil configurations and look at ther amps, see anything awkward when looking at all the other car audio companys? JL however will stay around because when it all boils down to it thy do make a descent product and have the best marketing. Half the people I see with it most likely bought JL due to there marketing and they way they go about advertising so this will win people over. Now USAmps, Focal, DD, Eclipse, and a slim to few other companys do hardly any marketing, why? Because the product they sell speaks for itself. Just picture JL Audio like a Dell computer and DD like a better home built or off brand computer that will out perform it, now why are 1,000s of people buying Dells everyday as oppose to my off brand Vpr Matrix best buy computer,.. for the same reason as the car audio scenario i've given.

The system I have now if stored properly and no damage is done to any of the equipment will sound the same if I install it a year from now as oppose to installing it now.

The only thing I need that will complete this system is a custom built 200 amp Ohio Generator alternator that I have to wait 3 months for that will need custom mounting such as brackets , etc.. which I will have dropped in when I have my rebuilt motor and turbo dropped in, and maybe an Eclipse CD changer :)

Doh! I started a mini war :) Well Marcus was right with my opinion. I was just wondering why buy something with no intention of using it for some time. That subject has been totally cleared up now. Sounds like you have some really big plans for your car eclipse99. I hope you achieve each and everyone one of them. You go about it a little different then I would but to each their own.

Yes I do have some very big plans for my eclipse and will show you all pics when im done. I know that I will be the most from stock to modded 2gnt on the board.
