2576, Head-Unit troubles!

Ok i need help, i just recieved my JVC head-unit back from Circuit City. It was being serviced because the buttons stopped working.

Anyways, they installed it in my car and it is obviously not as powerful as before. I noticed this right away when taking off, I didnt have my sub box in my car but i could tell that the HU wasnt pushing the stock speakers as normal. I had the volume up to 30 (goes up to 50) and it sounded like it should have been at 15.

Well I figured that when i got home and put my subs back in, it would sound normal again. But i was wrong, I obviously dont have nearly as much bass as i had before. My rearview mirror used to shake and now it only vibrates. I redid all the settings (EQ, Sub vol., sub freq., etc.) but still it sounds very low.

Now it takes at least volume 10 to hear the slightest bass. Before i could hear bass at volume 2.

Well I called circuit city and even talked to the technician who worked on my HU. He told me that he didnt work on anything that would affect the output. He then said that maybe i got used to the bass and thats why it wasnt so loud. But I know for a FACT that my car had more bass before it was serviced. He even told me that maybe i was imagining that my car used to be louder.

But i know my car used to shake the rearview mirror. Anyways, what can you think of that could be the reason for this?

What could I tell Circuit City to prove the difference?

I need your help audio gurus!

I would try and play with the settings some more. I don't know if your HU has this, but see if it has a separate sub level setting on the deck, since it was serviced, this might have been reset. Also check to see if you have a "loudness" setting on the HU, this will make the bass and treble somewhat louder at lower volumes..Thats all i can think of for now...

yes it does have a seperate level for subs and i did set it back to 8 (factory setting is 4). Every single thing is the same as before. Now i was wondering if maybe i need to do something to my amp. Do i need to reset it or something like that? if yes, then how do i reset it?

Also, im having problems with my amp too, never had problems till i set everything back up. If i have both channels set to the same crossover frequency, then the subs sound like they are "busted" and no bass comes out. Ive tested each sub by itself and they are not busted. When the amp is powering one sub it sounds like the way one sub should. But with 2, it sounds busted.

Now if i change the crossovers and have one channel with a low freq. and the other channel with a mid. freq. then they dont sound busted. But still it is no where as loud as it was before. I can turn it up to 30+ and still hear only a little bass.

Any ideas?

Check you amp wiring. It sounds like one of your subs/wiring is reversed on polarity. Usually when this happens the bass is all muddy sounding. If your set up is running in stero(one sub per left and one per right channel), alternate the balance control between left and right, and if the bass increses with eiither left or right balance, then goes back muddy sounding when the balance is back in the middle, then a pos or neg wire is reversed somewhere from the amp to the subs..Could just be your HU was just not fixed right either..
