I want to cuz I just got me a new Alpine headunit that is pushing 60w x 4 and my factory (non infinite system) seems like they cant take them. What is the max wattage on the stock factory 6.5s in the rear? Should I replace them with this brand new set my friend gave me? They are PROFILE speakers with a gator on the box...the specs are 120watts max, foam surround, 1" peice tweeter, 12oz magnet, sensetivity 91db, freq. response 50-20,000, 2-way treated paper cone speakers. So should I put them in? Is it real hard...i know i have to take out the panels but thats it.

Leave the rear speakers there in the back, and put the new 6.5's in the doors. They will fit nice, but maybe a little modifacation to make them fit well, no biggie. Even though your HU says 60x4 watts, it really is only going to put out around 15-18 watts RMS power x 4, and the 60 watts is the max power rating. Believe it or not, i am still running the stock front and rear speakers off of my Directed 500 4 channel amp which is at least 50 watts RMS x 4. The stock speakers sound really good IMO, and i can crank em up pretty loud without any real distortion. When you say that your stock speakers can't handle the new HU, it is most likely because you have the bass turned up too much, and is distorting the speakers. I have the crossover set on my amp so that very low bass doesn't go to the speakers, which is why i can turn them up pretty loud and still sound good. Soon as i get some cash, i'll be getting new front and rears, but my first priority now is the turbo kit :thumbsup

Well I have a built in crossover too...well i put one of those new 6.5s in the back...and compared it to the stock one and man!!! those new ones SUCK ASS...I hate them!! They are sorry...im not getting nearly as much bass as I was from the stock ones...so I took that one out right away and put my stock one back in. but I accident broke off one of the stock plug things. You kno the neg. and pos. plug on the speaker...well i broke off the pos. one. I managed to jus lift up some more of the pos. plug and jus make a whole new plug for the pos. wire....its so ghetto I have electrical tape around it to hold it down.

Turn it up loud. Thats peak power not RMS though, you will never get 60watts RMS with that H-Unit.

Ya like he said, its PEAK not rms power. Rms will be under 25 for sure. Plus, it sounds like you are trying to get bass out of your regular speakers. It will just distort. You really need an amp and subs if you want bass, or else you wlil just blow your stock speakers if they distort at higher volumes.

yea...I jus bought 2 JBL 12s 400 watts peak...my friend is making a box for me right now....and I just cant wait for it. I still need to buy an amp tho.

dude, what you gotta remember is that 6.5 speakers are NOT made to pump out major bass, they're mainly made for midbass/tweets, if you want some nice low end, but dont want to weigh the hell out of your car, get a lil pioneer 10 inch sub, they dont weigh crap and you can put them in tiny boxes, and about a 100 watt RMS amp, sound pretty nice, that's what my brother's runnin and it sounds great.
