I want to get a set of subs for my hatch and heard good things from friends about Audiobahn. Anyone ever try them? Is there anything better I can get for the money? I plan to power them with a 1000watt 2ch amp. Any input will be greatly appreciated. If you guys know of a better hatch setup for equal or similar price, let me know of it too please. Thanks.

If you put a clean 1000 watts to that box you will replace it in a hurry. Audiobahn makes good stuff for people on a budget, but if your looking for something that is going to take abuse and last for a long time I wouldn't buy them. Your better off saving up some more money and getting some decent subs. For the price of those you can get 2 good quality subs and then build your own box for about another 50-60 bucks and be much happier. Better to buy good first than the buy K-mart and keep replacing til you get to the good stuff anyways and waste alot of money in the process.

yes, excellent advise above. I'm sure those subs will sound good, but they may not take the abuse. I don't even want to know how much money i have wasted in the past on cheaper audio equipment. After i started to learn more about car audio, i found that spending the extra money on the good quality higher priced equipment is the best bet.

well i have audiobahns 2 10's in the hatch and they sound great. have had them for about 9 months and still sound good. i have heard nuthin but good ness from others and have heard from many if i had 2 12's in the back. i do have th upgraded ones not sure what the hell its called. im not a big audio nut but i know they arent the reg 10's. i guess thats why they hit so clean and hard. imo i would get them. id ask to hear them first see how you like them. jes my opinion

Just saying that yes they may sound good for now, but for long haul abuse and power handling I will bet on my XTR Pro's any day of the week to handle the rated power all day long and not break a sweat. DOn't get me wrong, I have heard many cars with cheaper setups that sounded really good, hell every major show you go to, somebody like Jensen is there with a demo car that is hooked up with their stuff and sounds clean as hell. But like they say, you get what you pay for you know. If you buy a 1000 watt amp for 200 bucks, do you really trust that it is going to give you that full 1000 watts? Or would you rather buy a Pheonix Gold, Orion, Punch or other amp that you know will give you the rated power it claims? Just a matter of preference I guess. Like I said, you can make the cheaper stuff sound good, but if you abuse it for to long it's gonna give out alot faster than the higher priced goodies.

Thanks for the responses. Im still pricing things out so I am not sure what I will do. As far as building my own box, I am not too fancy with woodworking so I dont think that will work out as well as I would plan. (Anyone got a box already that will sit two 10's for sale?) I'll shop around still and go see how they sound. Hey Mitsuman, do you have any pics of your subs in your car? Thanks again for the advice.

ONly problem is you need a box built for those 2 10's.....boxes aren't universal, has to have the right airspace for the subs that go in it or it won't sound right....if you go with a basic sealed box then you only have to know how to cut straight lines..... if you post the specs for the subs there are planty of people on here that can give you the basic dimensions to build it......:)
