get the whole thing out. The 5.25's that are in there have an oversized frame, so (assuming your mounting points are similar), the 6.5's will line right up. But, the hole for the magnet and casting won't be big enough. try to push it in and see where it hits. Dremel that area out. Keep doing that until the 6.5 fits. It's a crude method, but I think that's what everyone's done. Pretty easy, just takes a little time.

just what was said above, the speakers should just drop in, but might take a little dremmeling to get the perfect fit (depending on the speakers you get).. got mine in with a little resizing, nothing major.

i think it may depend on the speaker though, cuz my RF didnt just bolt right up. I got a mounting kit from crutchfield when i bought them, but I checked b4 i installed them and the holes didnt match.

Right. Like I said, "assuming your mounting points line up." There's no standard in mounting brackets so some will require a mounting plate. My Diamond Audio's lined up perfect.

i put some jbl 6.5's in the front no prob. i put some pioneer 6x9's in the back though and that was a real beeyotch. my rear interior panels still won't go all the way on right cuz the magnets were so deep on the dayum speakers. sound pretty good tho! 6.5's in the front should be pretty easy, but beware with 6x9's in the back.

I put MB Quart 6.5" components up front... what a bitch! I spent about 2 hours modifying the pods. They weren't too deep, but too wide. My JL Audio 6.5" coaxials were a direct swap in the rear pods. I had to drill new holes for both front and rears.

The SQ has improved DRAMATICALLY from stock (duh!). I want to mount the tweeters in the factory dash spot under the factory grills. It looks like the stock speaker is built into the basket, though. Is there any way to take it out? Should I just pull the grill off the basket and set it in the dash?

Your gonna have to remove the stock speakers and grill if you plan on replaceing them. Try to be a little more specific.
