I guess there's a reason they have stereo install shops...because my new head unit (Sony Xplod something or other) does not have any intention of going in my car. I opened up the dash and got the old unit out...but all the wires are different. the new head unit came with a thing that snaps into it with a shitload of wires and 2 larger bundled connectors...its just that the connectors are not the same as the one that goes to the factory head. so...i take it that this is not as easy a process as i had perhaps thought...any ideas?

Did you buy a wiring harness? It is an easy installation if you have the correct supplies. You can get wiring harness's from Best Buy, Circuit City, any where they sell car stereo stuff. Just tell them what year and make your car is and they will give you the right harness. Than all you really have to do is connect the wires from the back of the headunit to the wires of the wiring harness and the wiring harness will then plug wright into your stock harness.

I got it off ebay actually...so i think whats up is that the wiring harness fits another car...ill stop off at best buy tomorrow and see if they can sort me out...thanks!

just go to some place like best buy, circuit city, they have wire harness for like 10-15 bucks.. best way to do it. Unless you got the infinity system as stock.. then your gonna have to tap into the amp that is located under the front passenger seat. Thats a little more tricky.
