12379, Volume control without a head unit Posted by Malenko, Dec-31-69 06:00 PM
I have no head unit just an indash LCD screen and RCA outs from a modded XBOX right into the amp. I have the gain all the way down but its still WAY TOO loud. With the media player I can control the volume, but with DVDX I cant control the volume when watching DVDs
any ideas?
Its tradition to show the fast and the furious on the monitor right?

no aux RCA ins and outs on the media player? If not.....get a head unit lol... seriously man, you could run your amp in a higher ohm to make it a little less loud. I've got a 1200 watt amp running in 16 ohms to power my door speakers and it's a little louder than a head unit could do but not so much to damage my speakers.

I use a Directed Audio Parametric EQ molded into my rear bench seat to control the Carputer's output from the sound card to the amps. It allows me to fine tune the sound a little better and direct the paths to my amps for the subs/ speakers seperately. Also has the volume knob on it for setting the overall volume. I use a griffin Powermate as my remote volume knob though and it is awesome.

In all seriousness, I think tricky nailed it.

An individual potentiometer on each speaker positive feed :shrug I'm not even sure if that would work, but it would be funny/ghetto enough to warrant a place in hall of shame :P
