After having my car broken into and all my crap stolen, I'm starting to look at some replacement hardware. I aquired three MTX 10" subs in a custom sealed enclosure from a neighbor, and I'm asking your opinions on what would be a good mono amp to get to run these babies. I'm not looking for earth-shattering rock-my-licenseplate-off bass, I'm simply looking for something that will make them pound nice, deep, and clean!!

A friend suggested sticking around the 500-600w range (I used to have two kenwood 12"s running off a 800watt kenwood amp (kac-7201), and it sounded kinda shitty, but I believe that was partly due to the subs themselves (the tornados made the bass real short and hard)

Any suggestions? Also looking for an amp that has at least a little something that is aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

rockford punch series p6001 should be right up your alley. actually, the p3001 would be fine for you. i was pushing two 12's off one, and it was loud. hope this helps.

i'm going to guess 1200w is the max. you'd be better off going with rms, as that's what you should really be dealing with anyway. i'm going to go ahead and guess that each sub is 600w rms, just as a round about. in that case, i'd recommend perhaps a 1000 watt rms class d amp. mono block. rockford has a few models. i'm big into them. you could go with a t5002 though, and you'd be set. be all you ever need.

small question about Rms, my type s, say they run at 50 rms, im going to by a 4 channel to power my rears and my fronts, but it can put out 130 rms, will this blow the type s, also how do i hook up my tweaters because i want to power them also but its only a 4 channel amp

actually i have a rockford fosgate 351s POWER amp, 2 channel, i used it on my 1 L7 in my explorer and it pushed the hell out of it .. its for sale if you want a used amp ... either way stick with rockford i love their stuff.

mephis is the way to go hard to find them but if you look on ebay you can find a 1000d amp for about $400 or so, i have one in each of my cars and had the one for over 6 years the only amp you will ever need.

also use a Phoenix Gold 20 farad Powercore to save the battery/alternator from these beasts

for bass I say rockford fosgate; Ive had a few systems in my day and they all were great. Right now I have an Alpine MRP T220 pushing factory front speakers and 6x9 Xpoldes in the back. Sounds clean as hell even with my craptacular wiring job

frad caps really don't do much. if you just use a nice deep cycle battery you'll be in the clear.

rockfords are nice for the price

zapco! the ref 750w amp pushes my W7 quite nicely

zapco isn't a bad brand. i've just had really really really good luck with rockford. and i've tried almost every manufacturer out there for both amps and subs.

just as long as i dont see people saying like "i bought this sweet sony today", i really dont mind what it is because most of every brand has a decent line of something. try www.edesignaudio.com. some of the best shit you can get for the money, its really easy on the wallet. my friend just got a 19Ov (18" sub) in the back of his mx-3....sounds fantastic :)

I ve got a JL 500/1 running 2 12" alpine type R's with an alpine iva-d300 and clairon component's all aroundd. All my frineds tell me its the best sounding out of all ours.

Best bang for the buck imo: JBL 1200.1 I've blown two audiobahn 15"s with it, and before that hit 143.8 in a sealed box. I've had mine for three years without a hiccup. if your planning on running those 3 mtx's your gonna need a reliable amp. alot of them aren't 1 ohm stable and that should be what your amp will see. (assumming the subs are 4 ohm SVC's)

the jbl is nice but i think but i thought it was 2ohm stable . the hifonics brutus series are great

Agree with the above poster on amp selection. I would get that amp and some Solobaric L7's. You can find some 10 inch L7's at the Fry's website if they still have them for about $100 a pop. You system will slap hella hard with that setup.
