haha... your learning... so i will be easy, basically there are 2 different types of watts... peak and RMS, RMS is the real watts... so what you want to do since you dont know the RMS is work with the peak... i hope you follow me, you need an amp with 900 watts peak it must be a 2 channel amp so you run just your woofers off of that, dont get your shit installed by best buy/ circuit city... do it by a no name shop that takes pride go to www.justamps.com and buy your amp there and have someone install it for you

lol, i got two 10"s from best buy, the pioneers. they are rated t 350 max, and 100 rms. i have a 4channel 300 watt amp bridged to two channels runnin the subs, and the amp is turned way down. also, my front speakers are seeing like 70%, the rears 30%. and i have the bass on my deck turned all the way down. if i turn up the bass either on the deck or turn the amp up, the subs distort, pop, sound like a$$.
my buddy picked up two 12"mtx4000's in a sealed box witha bazooka i think 600watt amp and his shit pounds, a lot louder than mine.
teh only thing that is cool about the subs from best buy is that i have a warranty on them, so if i blow one listening to "ethnic" music, i can just drive there, unscrew it, and get a new one with no hassle.
JL's sound really nice, many peeps on the board have them.

Best Buy is just overpriced and does crappy installs. BUT Pioneer subs are pretty good actually, like the VCCS aluminum (or the VCCS pro black alum). They sound pretty good, and are good for sound quality if you get some 10's. If you just want to bump hard, get some audiobahns. Generally rockford fosgate subs are not that great (I have em) but I like their amps.

OK, I am not going to jump on the JL band wagon here like everyone else. :) I think they are good subs, but they are expensive, for the W6's. You can spend half as much and get just as much thump. I have Orion 10"'s and love them. I am going to be getting the Kicker Comp VR's, which for the money, are just as good as JL's, if not better. The reason I say they are better is because they are a more efficient sub. Meaning, if you get JL's you better have a big ass amp to push them, otherwise they will sound like shit. But you take that same small amp and put them on some kickers and it will sound good. So don't be so quick to run out and buy JL subs. Yes they are good, but look around. For the price of one JL sub you could get 2 Kicker subs. For 2 JL's you could get 4 Kickers, and so on. You see what I mean? Plus for those of us that do not listen to "ethnic" music all the time we will not want overpowering bass. I like to have a sub that can play all types of music and not over power my mids and highs. I am one of those wierdos that like hearing the words. :)
*the above is my opinion and if you don't like it, sorry.*
