This question has been asked a LOT on this board and while searching around on Crutchfield.com out of boredom I found something rather interesting. It's the Alpine $1000 complete system.

I know half of you idiots will post "what does it come with" instead of taking two seconds to click a link so here you go.

Details:

» complete car system: receiver with iPod adapter, front and rear speakers, 12" sub with box, amplifier with wiring kit
» warranty: 1 year

CDA-9847 CD receiver

» 18 watts RMS/50 peak x 4 channels
» detachable face with rotary control and Quick Search
» plays CDs, CD-Rs, CD-RWs, and discs burned with MP3 and WMA files

SPS-170A 6-3/4" 2-way speakers (pair)

» aluminum-coated polypropylene woofer cone with rubber surround
» swiveling titanium-coated PEI balanced dome tweeter
» fits standard 6-1/2" and 6-3/4" (oversized 6-1/2") openings

SPS-171A 6-3/4" component speaker system

» multi-layer pulp woofer cone with rubber surround
» 1" textile dome tweeter swivels up to 15° (surface and flush mounting)
» 2-way crossover (12 dB/octave high-pass, 6 dB/octave low-pass)
» fits standard 6-1/2" and 6-3/4" (oversized 6-1/2") openings

SWS-1242D dual voice coil 12" subwoofer

» Kevlar-reinforced pulp cone with aluminum finish and Santoprene rubber surround
» frequency response: 26-1,000 Hz
» power range: 50-300 watts RMS (150 watts per coil)

MRP-M350 mono subwoofer amplifier

» 200 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms (350 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms)
» low-pass crossover, 50-200 Hz, 24 dB/octave
» variable Bass EQ bass boost (0-12 dB at 50 Hz)
» 15 Hz subsonic filter

Now that's not going to be a hyper booming SPL competetion system. But if you're looking for a quick, innexpensive, and decent quality system just to upgrade your stock system then this is the one for you.

wow...thats a pretty damn good deal. my only problem is that it comes with NOTHING to allow you to install it. i hate it when people dont consider wiring/distrobution/fusing/etc. as part of a budget for an audio system.

Actually if you click the link it includes an amp kit and installation stuff depending on your vehicle. I didn't copy and paste that part.

lol :P

i'm curious how big a difference the price would be if you bought the pieces individually though. that entire kit is made up of alpine's barebones entry-level equipment. i can see how you could easily put together a kit for $1k if you just bought the cheapeast models.

bah..i missed the part where it said the amp came with a wiring kit. sorry!

anyway, its not the system i would choose for 1k, but for someone who is just getting into audio and wants something effective and homogenous, its the perfect deal.

Exactly why I posted it, entry level stuff for guys who want to get it all at one shot and get semi-decent shit.
