I want to finally go compete this summer. SPL is my primary thing, but i might try out SQ. Right now its a tossup between the 2 headunits, im not sure what one to go with.

I have heard a lot of bad things about eclipse HU's but have never owned one before...just thought you might wanna know.

I'm an Alpine guy but I have nothing bad to say about Eclipse stuff either. They are a good company. Personal choice if you ask me. It's not like Alpine vs. JVC or something like that.

Same here. I love my Alpine (9811). I love it even more knowing that some smacked ass sold it to me new in the box for $50. He later found out what they go for and bitched to me. Eclipse is probably good to though so take your pick.

I love my Alpine headunit. The headunit I bought for my car was an Eclipse and I had nothing but problems with it. The first one fried so I got it replaced, then the second one would never play a cd. I bought a brand new cd, put it in and it did nothing but skip the whole time. I replaced it with an Alpine and have had no problems with anything. I love it and will stick with Alpines for all my car stuff.

Just so you know where I'm coming from I have an Alpine CDA9863 from 1999 and it finally died this January.

Alpine all the way! I used to have the CDA-7893 and that was a good head unit.. but now i have the CDA-9855... and that my friend is prolly the best cd/mp3 player out right now. i got mine in downtown LA for $423 shhhhh!!!
