Hi guys, I have a XM Radio MyFi, all hooked up and great. The MyFi has a built in transmitter that will use the upper or lower range of the FM dial. I currently use 107.7, that seems to be the clearest channel. But when I am driving I get noise when evern I push the gas. If I'm doing 60 and take the car out of gear, not noise. Put it back in gear, noise again. This happens regardless of the channel FM station I'm on. I have cig adapter for power for the MyFi. I unpluged that and the noise is still there. Any suggestions?

*I searched and did read the great Noise FAQ, but the MyFI is not hard wired to the car.

I had this same issue with my amp for my speakers. It's an alternator wine. I have no idea how your MyFi is setup as far as grounding it goes, but I know my amp was not grounded to well and once I regrounded it the noise went away. I suggest you look into this more and figure out that problem, it is not healthy for the alternator. I had a friend where he had a bad ground and the cable came loose and shorted his alternator out and he had to get a new one. So find out how that MyFi grounds itself and fix it.

Yup, bad ground. Don't run any power wires across your antenna leads either.

If you feel like hardwiring that bad boy, I would power it off the cigerette lighter, and ground it to the cigerette lighter too. I use that as a source for most of my grounding and powering. You shouldnt power more than 2 things from the cigerette lighter anyway or you'll blow the fuse to it alot. Anyway.. Food for thought if you want to be a little more creative, and make it an even cleaner install. Good Luck
