what does this kit do exactly?

It let's you charge the ipod in the car, and plays the ipod through your oem radio. No audio loss, etc... I am not sure if you can control the ipod's menu through the oem stereo head, but you can probably fast forward and everything.

it sounds like some type of inline modulator with a power source, i dont see how you can fastforward or rewind per say from the head unit, unless you can manage a way to interface directly with the headunit itself, cause there is only so many wires coming off it and they are just power, ground, speakers and dimmer/antenna wires. remote turn on if you have an amp.
I would guess unless this has a specific plug for eclipse/talon's harness, you could use it with any radio. it may have specific bracketing for that car as well.
but what you describe it just sounds like a normal hardwire'd modulator.

Probably uses the CD changer controls if you can control any function of the ipod. same way the ipod interfaces with BMWs and Alpine stereos.

I have no idea why there would be a difference. The only thing different between Talon's and Eclipse's are the name badges basically. Why would they have gone out of their way to make just the radios different?
