I'm in the process of putting together my sound system with custom enclosure. All I need are subs. I was thinking about the Eclipse subs but first I would like to know from those who have experiences with these subs,

How is the thump and are the subs durable?

I was thinking about going 1 big 15" Kickers but 2 eclipse subs looks alot better.

I've heard some good things about their subs, but I haven't heard them myself. Diamond audio is what I'm going with when ever I get around to audio stuff

I have one 15" Eclipse Aluminum sub, and it sounds great. These subs like a nicely built sealed box(just get the recomended airspace right), and LOTS of clean power. I've fed over 1000 watts into this thing, and it stays fairly cool. The aluminum cone and motor structure help dissipate all that heat very well.

I have a single 15" Eclipse that I bought from ^^^. When it was hooked up it was great. Handles a ton of power and pounds better than almost any sub I have heard. Give it lots of clean power and you won't find a better sounding sub. Good luck man, get some pics up when you are done.

The aluminum cone subs are great, especially if you like rock and metal because they have a very metallic ring to the bass. If you like rap look more into kicker or JL.

I used to have 2 Aluminums in my hatch, powered about 400 to each and they sounded teriffic, very clean and crisp sounding subs IMO. This was my enclosure from 2002 to 2003

the Titaniums are godlike subs and love ported boxes
The Aluminums are better then most of the other subs in the same performance range, and there are plenty of models to choose from as well so it is not at all hard to find one to fit your budget. The Titaniums are pricey ($300usd used and up) but they sound amazing and they go very, very loud. The Titanium Pro is only available in 15" and 18" sizes but is by far the best subwoofer I've ever heard. I heard an 18" and it sounded like a sealed 12" and had more volume then I could ever imagine one sub possibly producing. The Pros are about 3,000 watts RMS.
There is, however, a cheaper way to getting the same performance without the brand name. Eclipse subs are built by TC Sounds who in turn will sometimes sell overstock subs that are equivalent to the Eclipses in every way but for much less money. message me if you will consider that route.

I would suggest not doing a 15". I'd go more with two 10"s, two 12"s, or just one 12". My buddy has two 15" Audiobahns in his Civic. It was a miracle that he got them in. But they just don't hit the sharp quick pounds like my two 12" Amercian Pro Comps. Don't get me wrong, the 15s are great for lows that are constant. 10s and 12s just punch better in my opinion.

I have 1 JL 12" w7 with only 500 going to it and it sounds great. Very loud and very clear.

I got 4 12" memphis MC124D, pushed with a memphis MCD1500, 1500 watts@2ohms 1 channel class d amp, and they are LOUD, and very good quality sound.

I would go with a single 12" Eclipse. If you power it right it will sound great. If you want to spend a little more then go with a JL W7 but it will be harder to make an enclosure for becuase it is so deep. Good luck man.

15s and 18s can sound just as good as 10s and 12s if they are built properly. if you take the same motor you used on your 10" and 12" version of a sub, and put it onto a 15" with no chnages, it will sound like crap, yes, and that's what audiobahn does. but Eclipse designs a completely different motor for the 15" to compensate for the increased cone weight and area and whatnot and, by doing this, they get a lot of their sound quality back. I'd put a 15" Eclipse on equal footing with a 10" Rockford, SQ wise.

i've got 3 eclipse aluminum 12's (in signature pic), but only 2 of them are powered (need a bigger amp). however, the 2 eclipse aluminums are much louder than the 3 JL Audio 12W6's i had before. those were DVCs as well.
