Awhile back I was asking about getting a wiring harness back in my car that had been cut out, and someone said something about shops that sell Metra. What exactly is metra, and what types of shops sell them (for instance circuit city, best buy, shit like that). TIA for the info, if ya wanna, hit me up at nateralus@yahoo.com

Metra is a brand name that makes harnesses for car stereo installation. Most of what they sell are harnesses that your stock harness plugs into that then converts to the harness that plugs into whichever aftermarket radio you buy. Metra does, however, make a factory plug for many applications that can replace ones cut out of vehicles. You'll either have to A. Wire it in based on the wiring you already have in your car. or B. Get a wire diagram from a 12volt forum.

best buy sells them, tell them you need a "mitsubishi reverse harness" And like he said, you can either get a wiring diagram and wire everything up, or what i would do is get a test light and a 9v battery or multimeter(safer) and test all the leads. There probably won't be a ground wire, you will have to make your own.

Our radios ground to the radio chassis and through the antenna, you don't need to "make" a ground.

if your putting an after market one in....im just saying that there wont be a ground wire in that harness.

Oh, I just figured he's putting the stocker back in if he's putting a stock harness back in his car :shrug:

possibly, but i know i repaired my harness even though i was using aftermarket radio, just know that everything is factory back there and clean install makes me happy even if its not seen

eh, its not that bad fixing your old one. just use a paperclip to help you get out all the stachons from the harness "body" or "shell". then its just a matter of stripping the wire, recrimping, a dab of solder, and shove the stachons up into the body again. i was a n3wb when i installed my first stereo and just cut all the wires. with my most recent one i repaired my stocker harness and used a plug n play harness to connect my new HU.

p.s. before you start tearing your old harness apart, if there are any bits of wire, make yourself a diagram...then you wont have to go through the shit of testing or finding wiring diagrams.
