#109608, "Help me identify which Hahn Turbo I have?"
Feb-26-13 11:20 AM by Tired2

Hi,

I'm hoping to find out what turbo I have... I know that sounds strange, but I bought the car used and I might need a rebuild kit for it. (I have oil slowly dripping from the wastegate actuator lever on the bottom of the hot side, dripping on the down pipe).

The kit is a Hahn with a 'log style' exhaust manifold, and the turbo casting says:

49178-57700 5G20

I am not able to find anything with respect to 5G20 online, or anything relevant with either number.

I assume it is a small 16g, big 16g, or a 20g.

Here are a few pics:

Thanks.

Looks like a Super20G to me.

Thanks... I'll try to get it taken apart to measure, etc.

Am I correct that "Super" vs "flat back" is the the back of the compressor wheel being tapered or not?

The "super" is just what Hahn decided to call their turbos with an 10cm2 (IIRC) exhaust with a T3 flange...

Thanks, Hahn confirmed for me that it is a "s16g", which I assume means small 16g, not 'super' 16g.

I'm sending it off to have it balanced, then I'll rebuild it. Anyone know of a company that is better than gpopshop? They responded to one email of mine, but then quit communicating. All I asked was what the thrust washer was.

All HRC's Mitsu turbos are Super series, 10cm2 hotside.
