#108796, "Im back! 1997 Talon 420a Turbo"

Hey guys. A few months ago i smashed my eclipse. So i ended up buying a 97 talon for 400 bucks, swapped the motor from the eclipse. Didnt have a single hiccup thank god. Now if you remember my old posts, the turbo never worked correctly, still in the same realm right now. Under WOT and sometimes 3/4 throttle, the turbo spools up, car doesnt accelerate, falls on its face basically. Fuel cut/lean issue obviously. Heres my set up.

52 trim ebay turbo
255 walbro
12:1 fmu
95-96 return fuel system.
FMIC all boost leak checked
Missing link, have tried FCD in past, same story
Stage 2 Exedy if it makes a difference.

Two nights ago i bought an SAFC, but i relize now that i cant use it under boost... which is where my problem lies.

I When i installed the return line i did nothing about the stock FPR by the tank, i just clamped off the old hose. Could this be where my problem lies? i dont wanna go out and mess around with it, and fine out that wasnt the problem... its 95 here haha. Any input would help guys thanks.

Did you disable the stock FPR on the 95-96 rail?

Im confused at how disabling the 95 fpr would help? can you elaborate?
Also, was it a wise move installing that fuel rail? ive noticed at lower throttle it has made a difference compared to the 97 one.

You say you're using a 12:1 fmu. What kind is it? You should be able to set the pressure with that. Pic of your setup? How exactly is your fuel system setup? If you changed your fuel rail then it should be like this...

sending unit--fuel line to fuel filter---fuel rail--fmu---return line back to sending unit.

I have the fmu where you said it should be. But the fpr by the tank is still there. Is that what's messing me up? How do I remove it? Barbs?

You should bypass the stock fpr completely. I can't tell you if that's whats actually causing your problem or not but you should get rid of it.

With a FMU you have to keep the stock FPR to set your base pressure. The FMU only takes over when in full boost. The FMU should be between the rail and the FPR.

The FMU, by definition, is a Vortech.

FMUs are not adjustable. The regulator on the 95 rail needs to be there for base pressure, the FMU just adds additional fuel under boost.

If you go to portfueler you will need a 1:1 AFPR. So yes you will ditch the FMU and your stock regulator. I am not positive if the srt4 portfueler will fit but looking at a srt4 intake manifold picture it doesn't look like it. The bolts wont line up for sure but the runners might be close. I wouldn't do it.
