#88648, "Turbo Dyno Numbers"

For those of you turbo'd and have dyno'd your car. Can you post some info on the power you put down. And if possible some print outs. I myself am curious of true power coming from the cars on this board. Not just ohh I have a Stage 3 with a built motor boosting 16lbs.. I want to hear real figures, what kind of power does the bitch really put to the wheels.

a lot of people have put info up
but to save you the hassle of searching

at 7.5 psi
and running rich as hell i put down
222whp and 219fp's of torque
that was using the craptech regualtor from hahn

decent fuel management to lean it out a little would put more down

check out siueclipse he is putting down well over 300
with the portfueler system

I am hoping that the numbers can go much higher for you James. I am influenced to go turbo after I get out of boot camp and the car is sitting for a awhile in the winter. I am tired of being shitted on for having a slow car but looking good.

I can post more details later (having way too much fun at the shootout). There's obviously alot of work done to the car. Bottom end, head, cams, big turbo, etc. But the key is in the tuning ... and I had the best person on the face of the planet in terms of 420a knowledge tune it. And I love it! To freaking death!

Thura is a notorious tuner of the 420A motor . He probably tuned it himself.

which turbo is bigger the S20g or the t3t4 turbo 57 trim? just curious because i might be buying the portfueler and want to see if the power levels would be kinda of close to james. I have the Star kit boosting 15psi daily on pump gas with 440s on 91 octane and no msd. Damm the GT series turbos are so tempting right now. Can anyone tell me how far boost level wise can i take my 440 cc injectors. I'm thinking maybe 20 to 22 psi max on race fuel only since i don;t have a msd?

You can actually get close to 500whp according to hahn's site rite? Since you have the 20G. I'm hoping within the next year or two I can build and boost. Sooo Excited

I have not driven tura's car but I saw it drive at the S/O looked very drivable as it pulled away down RT 250, and only a tiny wisp of smoke out the tail pipe, not like my black tornado cloud if i get into boost too fast. Oh well I need to tune my bitch, where is Lee with my damn squirt... (Do not answer this question)

Don't mean to speak for T, but ya bill tuned his car and it's driveability was enough to drive from Hahn's place in IL. To Norwalk,OH and then down to TX (in route). So how's that for reliability.

The driveability is great. The car's designed and tuned for top end power. That pretty much translates to great around the town driving staying out of boost but go past 4k rpms and look out. I don't have my dyno sheet in front of me but power peaks around 6000 and plateaus till redline. It's a very interesting power and torque curve. I don't make alot of power until after 4000 rpms. Makes it easy to handle. Pretty much what I wanted exactly.

I was wondering if I could get a copy of your portfueler map. I have almost the identical setup as you and I run rich as hell. HRC keeps pushing back my date to get tuned and I wanted to test out your map. Would you send me a copy of it?

I know. Not the greatest pic but you get the idea. This is on 22-23psi on race gas. The car is currently running 17psi on 93 octane and is still ridiculously fast. MUCH faster than it's last iteration.

As you can see from the dyno sheet the power band has been shifted to the upper RPM band. This isn't a problem for me (actually what I wanted) and makes it much easier to handle around town and for long trips. One tank on the way back to Texas from Norwalk, it got 34MPG!!!! Not too shabby. I make full boost somewhere between 4000-4500 rpms in case you're wondering.

Mods on the car ... there's a ton but just some things of note for the motor. JE 8.8:1 w/ .040" overbore, Eagle rods, street ported head by Eddie Fiero, Crower stage 2 cams (the first revision), AEM cam gears (though they are just used to adjust cam timing a bit), HRC port fueler w/ 500 or 550cc/min secondaries, S20-G, HRC 3" DP, 3" test pipe, Apex'i 3" N1, Crane ignition amp.

As for the power it makes. I have a suspicion there are a few people out there that have made more power than this on a 420a (I know of at least 2 and I don't think they frequent the board) so this isn't that huge a deal (it is for me but not in the big scheme of things).

What's next ... who knows. I'm glad to have the car back and running well. The interior is in shambles and needs some work. I need some track time to get ready for the next shootout. I'm also on the hunt for a BOV that sounds like a woman having an orgasm (or a girlfriend that gets off everytime I shift gears )!

That is wrong on so many levels. Fake blow off valve ... just as bad as a girl having to have a fake orgasm because you can't satisfy her in bed.

lol thats hillarious, anyways, are you using an lsd yet/any upgraded axles? oh and let me know if you ever find one that sounds like a woman having an orgasm, because that would be AWESOME. lol i saw this video of a guy who taped a turkey call to his blow-off valve so it would make a turkey sound whenever he shifted, kinda funny, but not really...

I haven't done any dyno runs, but i'm running consistent 13's if this helps. My best run been 13.0 @ 108 last saturday with 2.0 sec in the 60 feet. SC-61 @ 23psi, 8-injector set-up, 93octane and Lucas fuel additive, 225/45/17 drag radials.

Sorta changing the subject but has anyone broken 400WHP besides Armond's Avenger? I have been outta the loop since I sold my 2gnt but I saw Armonds car in person (at least 4 years ago) and it seemed like it was very driveable. Does he still have that car? Does Murix still have his? O memories of the good ol' days. It's great to see how your cars have progressed over the years.

have you ever tried getting good traction in a very powerful front wheel drive? my buddy's car can trap over 120mph but has trouble running 13 flat because it spins through first, the top of second, and a bit of third

putting the turbo in tonight? hmm I will see you at Race City on friday night even though my car boosts only 1psi because I have no wastegate. I'll need to finish my exhaust before I race though, they don't like open downpipes.. but I will be there.

the turbo's not thatttt big, i've got one too, it's more of a medium sized turbo, those are good numbers for 23 psi for that turbo. If it was like a super25g then yea maybe it should be faster, but for that, it's excellent
