Well for the ARP head studs, they recomend 65 ft lbs of torque. Then retightening after several heat cycles. I talked with them directly about this, because i know many guys on here have gone much higher in torque. They specificaly said not to go any higher, because we have a aluminum cyl head/steel block. So what i did, i went to 70 ft lbs, and never retorqued, so i figure the torque will be very close. Many guys have gone way over that, and never had an issue, so i dont know. My HG has been fine at 13 psi since the rebuild... Oh and be sure to work up to the final torque too. I think i started out at 25 ft lbs, then 45 ft lbs, then finished at 70 ft lbs.

Mine are torqued at 80 and I've torqued heads similar to ours at 100 with arp studs.

when you guys torqued it to 70 or 80 for the head studs did you just use the arp 'special' lobeee? or did you use oil with those torque numbers? my engine builder said it matters in relation to what lobee or oil and the how much you torque it.
thanks guys

i too have the ARP head studs torqued to 80 foot pounds. i used the APR Moly Lube on EVERYTHING. that shit is awesome. when i torqued mine down, i went to 40 foot pounds, then 80, and did that 3 times for all of the bolts. haven't had any issues since.

BTW, i'm using the OEM Mopar MLS headgasket.

On that note, I had my machinist tighten my ARP studs to 71 ft/lbs per the FAQ page. Last night, for shit and giggles, I attempted to confirm my head stud torque settings, and they wouldn't budge before the torque wrench clicked again at 70 ft/lbs.

Those ARP studs are in there TIGHT and haven't loosened from their original 70ft/lbs in over 1200 miles.

I run 90ft/lbs.

ARP says that because they don't want to be responsible for you overtorqueing your head in the wrong order and warping it. If you use the correct, factory torquing order, you can run whatever amount you want.

I know this thread is old, But do you torque the outside bolts(7-10) the same as the inside bolts when using ARP's?

Yea, I am torquing in sequence. I just got a little worried if they should all be the same, because the bolts required different torque settings for the outside ones. Just making sure before I went and broke something haha. Thanks man
