i have a 97 GST. i'm trying to replace the alternator belt but the belt will not fit. i went back to the automotive place a checked if was the right one and it was. i have been trying to put the damn thing on for hours and still will not fit. i was wondering if anyone had the same problem

Mine came off mysteriously one day and I pulled over and put it back on just like a bike chain.

I don't know if that helps but thats how I put mine back on lol.

Loosen the alternator tensioner bracket so that the alternator bends all the way up. Takes 2secs

What he said. Um, how many bolts are you loosening up? Does your alternator tilt toward the engine when you do loosen them?
