Hey all, I found a 1996 GS-T automatic with 40,000 miles on it for only $3000, the car is in great condition, but my questions is: what is performance like with the 2G GS-T Automatics, and do those transmissions have routine problems? Thanks a lot.

i don't know about the trannies but the autos can pull pretty good cause they don't have to let offa the gas to shift. meaning the throttle plate doesn't close which equals no drop in boost between shifts.

While ^^^^^ is true, remember that automatics aren't optimal for getting all of the performance out of a car since they are designed to shift slower and at lower rpm points than one might do if they had a manual. That being said, automatics don't crankwalk, and also don't have to worry about replacing clutches and other components, especially the tranny itself, that manual dsms so often have to.

Sounds like a pretty good deal for that milage, but make sure you won't mind an auto if you plan on modding it heavily.

It's running again shitheads.

buy it. For what a 5 speed owner would have to spend to beef up his clutch, tranny, shifter and not to mention the amount of tires they go through if FWD, you can get a torque converter and shift kit and SMOKE them "stick boyz".

Auto 4G63Ts are still very strong as many daily-driven DSMs are running 12s. Check out Club DSM Automatic at: http://www.ecanfix.com/~atdsm/
