Make sure the timing belt has been changed. Check and make sure the oil has been changed every 3000 miles. Any leaks? Any shaft play in the turbo? Have the caps in the ECU been replaced (or have they leaked?)

I'm having a brain fart right now. I'll post more later. Also, spend a minute or two searching for this kind of question. There have been several threads about this in the last month or so.

Best of luck, and talk him don in price. I don't know off hand, but what is KBB value on the car with that many miles.

It's running again shitheads.

Over time you'll get oil leaks in strange places, like front case, valve cover, small cracks in old plastic. Those other threads I mentioned should have alot of thos answers.

Also, how does the tranny shift? Any grinding? Also make sure you do a compression test. and check for how much play there is in the crankshaft (for CW).

I'd do it as long as it runs and drives fine.
If I ever buy another DSM for a project car, it'll be a 95 TSi-AWD...

use the search button first----i wrote a paragraph on this, depending on how anal you want to be. Basically, it is to your advantage to find out if the car has been modded. If it has, it isn't worth as much (= you saving money, which can then be spent on mods).

also, take it to a parking lot and make a left turn in 2nd gear, and see if the clutch sticks to the firewall. if questionable, THEN you should REALLY actually do the CW test, not just talk to the guy about it.

try to get him on this and that to save money for mods---you're gonna need it.

Here you go: http://forums.2gnt.com/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=17&topic_id=8399&mode=full

its a bit extreme, but its everything I could think of

above all, good luck
