#5492, "ACT 2600 pressure plate - how heavy is it?"

My stock clutch just wore out so I picked up a 2600, with the organic disk and a Prostreet flywheel. How heavy is the pedal feel? The only other peformance clutches I have felt were my Clutchmasters and SPEC, something tells me it will be a bit heavier than those...

It's a good amount heavier than any stock clutch, but after a couple days it really feels almost stock. So much so that when I drove my sister's Lancer, I almost put the clutch pedal through the floor! You will definitely notice the difference at first, but then it will just feel natural. Oh wait. I just remembered that 1g's feel a lot heavier than 2g's for some reason. Well eitherway the same should apply.

Just by looking at the pressure plate it seems to be different from the SPEC and the CM for some reason. It feels "beefier"

Well many, many, many hardcore DSM'ers have sworn by it for years (that and the 2900). There are other choices, but this is by far the most popular and most suggested.

As they have said...it is quite a bit beefier than stock, but after a couple days you won't even notice anymore...unless you are stuck in rush hour traffic, then your leg might start to get tired. When you drive another car with a stock clutch you will almost push it through the firewall.

there should be no difference in how the clutch feels other then its engagement and disengagement

Its definitely a lot harder to push in, but like everyone said you definitely get used to it. Also, if you are the type to hold the clutch in at red lights, it will break that habit real quickly. Just remember that the clutch will engage very low to the ground...other than that it really isnt that hard to get used to. I stalled the first two times and never again.

I got it in, damn the thing engages low! It's not as heavy as I thought but I stalled the thing 4 times on the first drive. Another clutch to get used to...

Yup, mine engages right off the floor. I think I have only stalled mine once so far...

I'm pretty much used to it now, it's got roughly 100 miles on it, no more stalling. I really like this clutch, the pedal feel is great, the engagement is smooth but sharp. ACT needs to start making Neon clutches! This thing is WAY better than my Clutchmasters stage 4 or my Spec stage 3 on the 2G.

a little different question, how do you guys daily drive your heavy clutches? I have a 2500pp RPS clutch and I drive in traffic a lot and slip it a lot, is that bad?

ner - I agree. The engagement on the 2600 is such a NICE feeling. It's fast but smooth.

T_K - I drive like an old granny and I ussually do a quick slip at about 1250rpms from a stop.
