DarkEclipseRS1997 i was wondering what compression is and how is it lost? im not to well informed on cars and all the things that go with them i know its kinda weird but it wasnt my cup of tea.so if you all can give me a quick lesson i will greatly appriciate it also if you have time.explain to me the diffrence in power loss or gain in rear wheel or front wheel drive vehicals any ideas please feel free to shoot some my way. thanx peace.PS it might sound like a put down but i personally would love to have my 1997 Eclipse in rear wheel drive it seems kinda natural dont you think? no offence to all one mans opinion>

By a number of things. Rings/valve seals and or head gasket.

Do yourself a favor and buy a chiltons manual

Our cars are front wheel drive but the same applies to rear wheel. The distance that the power travels from the motor be it a gear box or tranny and drive shaft take a percentage of power away, so you start out with X amount of power but by time it gets to the wheels you have lost some in the distrabution to the tires.

DarkEclipseRS thanx i do have a chiltons manual btw guess i should've read every article before asking peace outoh yeah its the (8415)50400 1990-1998 repair manual it covers all u.s and canadian models of Eclipse,talon,and Lasers.plus wiring and vaccum diagrams. peace out!!!!$$$$$$and cents
