Check your cams to make sure the dowells are in the correct position, one up, one down (I forget which one's up). If that checks out, do a compression test.

Sounds like timing. Did you happen to do anything to the coil wiring, or switch the plugs?

Yeah, sounds like your cams are off 180*. You getting gas vapor / fire from the intake? Take the tube off the TB and crank it to check. Are you using stock cams? A compression test isn't going to tell you if your cams are 180* off.

yea it already is off.... how would the timing be messed up if the notches aligned ? Im leaning towards the fact that the cam shafts were installed backwards...

That's the most likely thing, but you can't physically install stockers backwards. I'd make since if he wound up with cams from a neon/pt.

First off he dosent have crower stage two's he has crane 14's. I wold almost bet that you either have neon cams in there or they are installed backward. If you are going to be re-doing the timing call crane with any numbers you can find on the cams to see. Like I told you 3 days ago.

best time so far 14.3 @ 101.1mph(no traction)

You CANNOT install cams fucking backwards. It's physically impossible. If you are using Crane #14 grind cams and the part number is 180-0014 you have neon cams and they are 180* off because the 2gnt has a reverse head casting. For the 2gnt you need the 431-0014 as they are made for our cars. Neon cams wont work, your valves are closed on the intake stroke and that's why vapor etc is coming out the intake manifold. A compresson check is going to yelid good numbers so just check your part numbers.

ALRIGHT.

We just checked and put the stock cams and the crane cams side by side at top dead center.

The crane cams are 90 degrees off. Is there another position for a dowel on the crane cams or are these the wrong cams completely.

yea got new cams in today and compaired them ... post pick later. They put in neon cams which are rotated 90*. New crap goes in tomorrow and should be fired up. I just wish they built the motor right after being delayed already. O well, should be all good tomorrow.
