i just bought a tach from a guy on parts trader, 5" silver autometer of course for $75, one year old. i got a good deal, first one to email him, so i wanna go ahead and get the know the installation...where do the red, white, green, and black wires go? red-power black-ground i assume but what about the others? like for example if the white wire goes to, say, the ECU, which wire color in the ECU does it go to? the instructions will probably only say which wire to go to but not which color because its diff. for each car. and does anyone have any of those blue bulb condoms for the gauge bulbs? i need 4 blue ones, or at least one blue one to put on the tach so it will match my indiglo gauges. trickedeclipse, can you hook me up? ill pay someone a little if they have some.

one more thing, can you add a shift light to a tach that didnt come with one like mine? do you need just the light itself, or do you need a module or something
Red wire needs to be tapped to a 12V wire (you can use the same wire that goes to cigarette ligher) Black wire goes to a ground white wire goes to a light source wire (you also can use the cigarette lighter light bulb, to find out which wire of the 2 bulb wires is the one you need to tap it to your tac, get a vlot memter and hook it up to one of the wires and turn the head lights on and see if by doing so your volt memter reads 12V only when the lights are on.
green wire goes to your RPM signal wire (it's the only solid white wire by your ECU connectores)
if your Tac did not come with a shift light, then you will need to buy a new shift light along with another sending unit that you will need to hook it up to the same RPM signal wire along with some RPM chips. I think those the shift light along with the other unnit might run you a nother $75 more or less.
