#7796, "sealant?"

I have a quick question for you guys. As some of you may know I am leaking bad, I am trying to slow down the leaking some, I will replace the tranny though.

I was at autozone and saw some tranny leak sealants? How good would these work on a five speed tranny or would you guys even recommend them?

any thoughts would be appreciated.

I wish I had blown it, believe me, I do...

How big is the leak and how soon before you replace/fix it?

Some of those sealants work for a little while but can cause other problems in the long run.

Is it compatible with your tranny fluid for starters?

I have no idea if it would be compatible.

I am trying to get it fixed in the next month or so, I am probably leaking a quart every 2 weeks or something like that...

I wish I had blown it, believe me, I do...

Yeah, that is alot of leaking. I'd keep filling it personally if the repair is only a month away. Sorry I can't speak for tranny sealants. I only used a radiator one once in a road emergency. Good Luck & let us know whatever you do.

I know guys that have run these around with NO fluid in them, lol. One guy I told him to put some in a year ago (I did axles for him and pulled the drain plug just to avoid the overflow. Nothing came out ) Car is still his daily.

For a month? I might try the stop leak crap or I might just let her run dry.

the reason of why I am worried is because the new LSD is in there, its a Quaife. The last thing I want is for that to mess up.

I will see how it goes.

thanks anyways

i would advise against the trans sealant. they are mostly designed for automatics. most likely will not work properly with your fluid and may cause bigger problems. I'm also willing to bet that the fluid leak is coming from the case halves. most people don't seal it properly after installing the LSD.

I would not chance it with the Quaife Barza.

Fix it right

Those additives are never good.
