#6082, "Clutch Restrictor Removal Mod"

I was just looking through the performance mods section today and saw the Clutch Restrictor Mod. It looks like a simple mod, but is it really worth it? I guess what I'm really asking is, does this mod make an noticeable difference in performance or does it just make daily driving more difficult? Ok, so who all has done it, and what do you think about it?

I did clutch restrictor. don't lose any washers!!!! you'll be in deep shiat if you do. (fluid leaks)

Having Problems? Heres my Three step solution to anything 2gnt related.
Step 1: Put down everything in your hands.
Step 2: Grab a lucky strike, Smoke it.
Step 3: Walk to the fridge, double fist some keystone ice, sit down in the shade, drink one beer, finish cigarette, drink other beer, roll a joint, smoke it, walk back to your problem, and in about 5 minutes the solution will come to you.
If not. Go here: here

If still nothing, your trying to hard. Start over at step 1.

I wouldn't really call it a performance mod but it definitly gives you a better feel for your car. I did it a loooong time ago and at first you felt the difference then you just get used to it and it.

makes the engagement faster. I'd say it not good for low RPM driving because you want a little delay in clutch engagement and this mod makes it engage a little fast for low rpm driving. But if you gonna rev that sucka and quick shift its a great mod ^_^

Have you tried bleeding the clutch? We had to when we put the car back together this summer and it was like a totally new clutch. Well, actually, it was a new clutch, a PT Cruiser clutch, but the old one was still pretty good at 142K on it. Get some fluid and a buddy and bleed that sucka!

THe mod is really simple just one bolt, remove the spring/ restrictor plate screw it back and bleed the system. With the mod you won't stall as easily..I put mine back in after I changed out my slave cylinder and I stall real easily now. I need to take it out again.

Perhaps you all can help. I did the above mod. I put everything back together, bled the clutch a couple of times using DOT 3 Brake fluid. I went to test drive the car, and found that i cannot shift into any of the gears when the engine is on. I have checked for leaks on the slave and master cylinders, and the banjo and bleed screws. Any advice or help?

Bleeding the slave cylinder(You'll need an assistant).

1.Get some vacuum line that fits over the slave cylinder bleeder screw snuggly.

2.Get a glass jar and fill it up half way with DOT 3 brake fluid. Put your vacuum line at the bottom of the jar. (You do this because if your assistant lifts his foot off of the clutch pedal to soon you won't have any air in your clutch fluid system).

3. Have your assistant pump up the master cylinder.

4.With your assistants foot off of the clutch pedal, open the bleeder screw. Say "OPEN" loudly so your assistant hears you.

5.Have your assistant push down slowly on the clutch pedal, so he doesn't spray brake fluid everywhere, and hold the clutch pedal down firmly. The assistant should say "DOWN" loudly so you can hear it.

6.Close the bleeder screw snuggly. Say "CLOSED" loudly so your assistant can hear you. Your assistant can lift his foot off of the clutch pedal and say "UP" loudly so you can hear it. Don't break the bleeder screw. There hollow screws so they break easily.

Do this three or four times, even if you don't see any air in the fluid. Peace.

Well since we're on the subject, could we go over a small scale version via toothpicks or popsicle sticks perhaps? I've got a box with Terry's address on it already, we'll wrap it up nice and return to sender lol.

FYI: Pretty cool bleeding technique, I always feel cool when I get to yell stuff.

good idea, then Terry wouldnt have to try and weld anything and he could use his mad fabricator glue.

whats a meme?

Sarcasm goes both ways man

Thats a good bleeding writeup, thanks man. Like I said, im giving you shit. I bought speed bleeders a long time ago for my brakes and clutch, its really come in handy because you dont always have someone there to help you. It sucks even more bleeding with a broomstick between the pedal and seat, lol. Another good idea is to line lock the rubber line before you disconnect it, a lot less bleeding.

im sorry if I came across like a dick, im not used to new guys not being flamed for resurrecting old posts. sorry man. I dont think im better than you, Terry has something against me but it doesnt matter.

edited for fatfingering

Peace.
