ok, i know that we are supposed to have the Mopar MTX fluid in our trans. i just got a rebuild, (it is leaking a little) but it's pink/red. i called the shop and he told me that ATF+4 is what he put in it (after a lot of confusion and calling chrysler)
i know it ^works^ but is not the best, how long will my trans last on it? i know that the MTX fluid is much better for it. But the shop said that the ATF+4 is a way to fix a certain sound that this kind of trans makes.
the trans has never shifted better or felt better ever! but what harm could come of this? should i ask the guy to put the MTX fluid in instead? this shit seems to be working great, but for how long?

I am pretty sure that RED is automatic transmission fluid... always use dealer specified fluids if possible -- its not that much work to drain a tranny -- and if it is leaking it should go back anyways.

I have a manual transmission
ATF+4 is auto trans fluid, but chrysler says that it can be used in the manual trans too, but I'm not too sure i want it in there.
i'm just asking for pro's and con's with it, i'd prefer MTX fluid, but if this kind is supposed to stop some noise (which trans guy told me, he heard it from a chrysler tech) how long would the trans last?

with all the talk about ruined syncros using anything else than mopar stuff, it might just be better for you to spend the 33 dollars to get 3 quarts, and drain and put it 2.2 yourself. It's not that bad and you can do it from the top of the car. This is just the kind of thing that would eat at me all the time, until I finally decide to put in the correct fluid
